Origin Pacific is taking a second shot at Air New Zealand's alleged anti-competitive tactics, accusing the national carrier of price gouging and acting like the "Telecom of the skies."
The Commerce Commission earlier this year dismissed a complaint by the privately-owned Origin airline about Air New Zealand's tactics.
But Origin is going back with a second complaint about predatory pricing, which Air New Zealand has dismissed as a waste of time.
Origin was claiming it was the subject of continuing targeting by Air New Zealand, aimed at regaining its monopoly status on domestic routes.
This time round Origin said it was concerned about new Air New Zealand services between Hamilton and Nelson and Palmerston North and Nelson which started in late April.
Air NZ has also introduced special fares on Wellington-Blenheim, Auckland-Nelson and Nelson-Christchurch, flights, all of which are Origin Pacific routes.

Well this isnt new as what Aerohottie has said. QO complained to the Consumers watch dog about NZ starting a CHC-HLZ service which forced QO to cancel their service and QO lost that complaint. So nothing new there.

This particular paragraph jumped out at me from the above article:
"Air New Zealand had been a supporter of Origin Pacific, being one of many creditors who have effectively subsidised the airline by writing off substantial debts after it almost went out of business a few years ago, he said."
It would be disappointing if that were true and Origin are now complaining; but that's business...
