Setting up an airline is not like opening a coffee shop. It is tightly regulated and very difficult to raise capital for.

How hard? Very hard.

Almost impossible if you don't find someone who has worked as an airline executive before.

Depends how much capital you have. I have read somewhere that an Eighteen year old got the backing of a wealthy business man and now runs his own charter/low-cost airliner out of Liverpool to Malaga and spain

Not sure though so don't take it too seriously just sure i've read it in a paper

You need money, experience and a route thats needed but not utilised by other airlines to start up.

A better question would be....

How much money does it take to run an airline?

All of it...!!

I'm guessing you mean Alpha One Airways.

It had a short, sad history.

Ah, you want to make a small fortune in the airline business.

Just follow the advice of (I think) Warren Buffet - "If you want to make a small fortune in the airline business - its easy, just start with a large one".

I don't know how hard it would be, but it would be less painful to stick your hand in a Cuisinart.

Ive always dreamt of owning my own airline, or even flying for an airline. But I also dreamt I won 200 million pounds in the lottery and I owned an A340-600 Big grin

The one from LPL was Nexus Airways. Think they bought some seats on some Monarch flights from MAN to the Canaries to accomodate passengers that had booked with them but never operated any flights themselves

Piece of cake! Look at all the experts here on a.net who'd be willing to help! You will have chosen whether to go with Airbus or Boeing planes in no time, their expertise will tell you if JFK or EWR is a better airport to focus at, and they'll constantly remind you that your IFE is still below par!  crazy
