LAN Airlines to Unveil New Premium Business at NBTA;
Long-Haul Flights Also Include New Economy Class

MIAMI, June 20 /CNW/ - LAN Airlines (NYSE:LFL) is scheduled to unveil its
new "Premium Business" seats and services, a blending of the best of the
airline's current recognized first and business class service, at this year's
National Business Travel Association (NBTA) International Convention and
Exposition slated for July 16 - 19, 2006 in Chicago. Convention attendees will
have the opportunity to experience the new full-flat 180-degree seating.
LAN's new Premium Business, to be introduced on Boeing 767-300 long-haul
flights between North and South America during the second half of 2006, offers
a level of service offered by few airlines in the world. The new concept is
based on what business travelers value most on long-haul flights: the ability
to rest.
During the next two years, all Boeing 767-300 aircraft in the fleet that
operate long-haul flights between North and South America, and within Latin
America, will incorporate the new full-flat, 180-degree recline seats,
offering passengers greater comfort for sleeping in a completely full-flat
horizontal position. New down comforters and soft pillows create a true bed
experience, and dividing panels between seats offer maximum privacy during the
flight.
In addition, the distance between seats is increased to 74 inches, a
considerable 32 percent increase in space for passengers compared to LAN
Airlines' current business class and a significant increase to that offered by
other airlines in the world, providing maximum comfort for resting. The new
service, specially designed to increase the rest time available on overnight
flights, offers peace and tranquility in the cabin.
This initiative represents an investment in service of more than US$100
million.
"LAN Airlines continues to believe in the future and reaffirms its
commitment to the service and excellence that the company offers its clients
worldwide," says LAN Airlines Chief Executive Officer Enrique Cueto. "This new
LAN Airlines project revolutionizes the concept of air travel and allows us to
offer a product that only a select group of airlines in the world provide
their passengers. We are very proud to take this step that positions us at the
forefront of offering the best travel experience."
The inflight entertainment also reaches a superior level with larger
15.4-inch individual video monitors that offer high definition and widescreen,
and an updated audio-visual content with an audio and video on demand system
that allows passengers to choose from eight films and 20 short programs with
the ability to fast-forward, rewind or pause selected films.
In addition, there are 14 interactive video games and a true musical
library with 100 CDs to choose from and enjoy with quality digital sound from
the latest generation in advanced noise-canceling headsets that notably reduce
the external noises of the cabin, producing a pleasant sensation of privacy.
The aircraft interior has also been modified, offering a larger space and
improved lighting. Other elements of the new service, including such items as
dishes, glassware and serving trays, among others, have been redesigned with
the new modern and elegant style consistent with the new Premium Business
service.
This transformation of the Boeing 767-300 fleet also includes
improvements in economy class with the objective of making a more pleasant
travel experience. It includes new seats with larger individual video monitors
with high definition and widescreen in each seatback. Passengers are now able
to directly choose from various audio and video on demand programming options
using an easy touch screen menu or remote control.
The new economy seats also have an increased recline with forward-sliding
cushions that offer a greater sense of comfort. Adjustable headrests, as well
as increased space for personal carry-on items and cup holders at each seat,
and new dishes, carpeting and other items such as pillows and blankets are
also available.
"We have a commitment to each one of our passengers. We want to take care
of our passengers with a smile and attentiveness in a warm and comfortable
atmosphere, always with the same level of excellence that distinguishes us,"
continues Cueto.

LAN allready showed new upper class seats on this years FIDAE ... I dunno if it was first or business class, but from an inernational travellers point of view it looked very much like Business class. What caught my eye was the mighty 15" screen that came with the seats! I took some photos and will upload them here when I ahve some time to spare.

I'm still kind of amazed that this is to be done with newly enhanced 767's rather than NEW A330-200's...
