Does Hawaiian Airlines have flight attendant base's only in HNL or in other cities that they serve?

Not an FA, but a pilot here. FA bases are HNL and LAX. LAX is pretty small. Pilot bases in HNL and SEA, with SEA being very small.

Why are the pilot and FA bases different? Do pilots and FA's work turn flights, like HNL-SFO and then back to HNL?

Out of HNL our turns are to Pago Pago,Tahiti,Alaska,and LA. Our pilots cant do turns unless they are heavy crewed usually 2 captains and an FO. I usually schedule myself with what we call hub turns...it goes some thing like this.

HNL-SAN layover 11hrs
SAN-HNL-SMF layover 10 hrs
SMF-HNL

I try to do about 2 or 3 of those a month.

When we had our LAX base, we had trips that went LAX-HNL-SFO (10 hour layover) SFO-HNL-LAX. It was called the "death march". Another word for a long day.

I can understand having FAs and Pilots based on the west coast, but why LA for the flight attendants and SEA for the pilots? Does anyone have any ideas for why they are not in the same city?

IIRC, both FAs from both bases can do it based on their schedule. I know my cousin, who is a LAX based FA, has scheduled and done OGG flights. Although, I do remember a lot of the crews being HNL FAs that deadhead back and forth.

I'm actually quite used to flying days like that. I made a mistake with my bidding for next month and I have 2 rather long interisland days. I am trying to drop them as quickly as I can.

SYD is our longest layover starting at 48 hrs upto 72 hrs. We also have a 32 hr layover in PHX and 24 hrs in LAX.

Since our base in the islands is in Honolulu,everyone deadheads from there but we have quite a few flight attendants that live in Maui so the company gives them a break by not making them commute to HNL and then DH with the crew to OGG.

The crew doesn't get enough rest to fly the PHX-HNL flight the next day. So, the scheduled arrival time in PHX is around 11:45pm, stay 1 full day, then fly out the 2nd day at 8:45pm. Minus the time for their debriefing and check in, it comes out to around 32 hours.

We stopped one of our flights temporarily that left on Weds. so the crew that flew out on Monday gets a 72 hr l/o unstead of a 48 hr l/o.
