Hi,

Does anyone know how MaxJet are doing? I have flown four round trips fron stansted since march and find them to be absolutely amazing. The seats aren't the best out there, but the level of service by their "inflight ambassadors" is absolutley astounding. I now know a lot of them by name!!

I was just curious about their expansion, I know they are starting Boston soon, but what about other cities? I make most of my trips to Orlando and St Thomas and JFK and IAD are not the best connection airports. I know that St Thomas is out of the question but I think that there really is a market for a stansted to orlando service. There are a lot of premium leisure travellers that will pay that little bit extra for a nice flight, particularly around Cambridge.

Anyways, I wish Max the best of luck and I will continue to fly them once I have ensured AA elite for the next year.

sorry, wrong forum have no idea to change

AW

There have been some good reviews of MaxJet on here, and some of their execs read a.net. I'm sure that they'll be delighted to hear your views!

They are not launching Boston soon, they haven't announced anything other than IAD and JFK. There are rumours that MIA will be their next destination. There is absolutely zero market for STN-MCO on an all-Business class airline.

There probably isn't any market for them in STN/STT-MCO. Do they have the plane sitting around in JFK for a while though? It may make sence to add a route laterally along the East Coast to get more efficiency out of their A/C. I would fly ORD-JFK-LON just to add that extra flight.

Government rules that require the disembarkation and collection of luggage for all airline passengers on their first stop on US soild would make it inconveienent and uneconomical.

Why are you so sure about this? Orlando is a city that keeps growing in importance. Just an example, yesturday Daimler-Chrysler's A319 flew to Orlando from Zurich.

Interesting the thread starter mentioned Orlando & Maxjet. Does anyone know why there were two Maxjet flights into MCO on wednesday? One with a 767 and one with an EOS 757 via Gander.

I believe they were executive charters for Zurich. It is mentioned in another thread that I read in the forum yesterday. They mentioned Eos, Maxjet, and I believe Privatair aircraft were spotted!!

Hola Charlie,

I actually went to MCO to snap a shot of the Privatair 757 unfortunately didn't taxi to the executive terminal as I expected (where I had seen the EOS the previous night). It went to a regular gate instead...

Which thread did you see this on?

I would tend to disagree with that statement. There are almost 8 flights a day to MCO from the UK, and they only need to tap less than 8% of that crowd to fill a single flight, and believe me there are enough people would pay $1400 for that kind of comfort on a 8+ hr of flight!! They may be leisure travellers, but they have the disposable income to pay for it, mainly now with the USD:GBP rate!!

PS: I used to live in Orlando for 6 years and most (sy above 75%) of the foreign tourists are from the UK, hence, the number of flights into MCO and Sanford.

Hi everyone,

The second MaxJet flight into MCO on Wednesday was actually N801DM we flew under a MaxJet 9550 call sign. We are due out later today as MaxJet 9555 going MCO-YYR-ZRH. There were 2 EOS aircraft as well flying along.

MCO spotters get your cameras out as this is the last revenue flight for N801DM before she gets her winglets on!

All the best,

N801DM

There is a lot of talk going around about Max Jet opening up Los Angeles and San Francisco as well. Los Angeles is a priority over San Francisco, and San Francisco would only come into play when a 5th or 6th aircraft is rotated into the fleet. Furthermore, should MaxJet enter the LAX/SFO markets both AA and UA will have a run for their money with Business Class products and their respective pricing. Max Jet entering the Trans-Con market may not hinder AA as much as it would United who over the years has had to decrease both capacity and frequency to stay above water with their JFK Trans Con markets.

Heard a Maxjet on the Caribbean HF freq a few hours ago. It was MXJ8200 routing Stansted to Orlando MCO. I didn't catch the selcal so can't tell you what aircraft it was, but it was a B762.

N260MY. Both N250MY and N260MY ran STN-MCO-STN charters yesterday.

Rather a long route for a non-ER 762 isn't it (N260MY)?

N260MY is a B767-205EM so yes, it's a long route. But well within capabilities given 102 seats on board. The -200 platform works well for all Business Class because the -200 often faced a fuel/payload tradeoff in denser legacy configurations.

I think the ER designation belongs to the airline so-to-speak? ie. when it leaves the airline for a new customer, it becomes a non-ER? I asked this question some time ago on these forums and that was basically the answer iirc.

An example of this are the Star Air B762Fs which are non-ERs although they were ERs with TWA.

N260MY is a B767-205EM

What's an EM when it's at home? New one on me?  confused

The EM designation is commonly used for a standard -200 that has been upgraded to a higher MTOW but retains the fuel capacity of a standard -200 (16.7k gal). Typical EM MTOWs are between 320k and 351k.

The ER designation is commonly used for 767s built to ER specifications from the factory. In practice, it means the aircraft has 351K or higher MTOW and the higher 20k gallon fuel capacity or higher. ER designations stay with the aircraft.

Thanks very much for the info, I was able to get some shots. So 801DM is the one in Dallas Mavs scheme (which shoudl've won the title, Heat just got lucky). I'm not much in catching it as it's not in airline livery but European spotters would probably love to snap that one. I was very glad to catch the Maxjet new c/s and EOS!

There was one Privatair 757 that left MCO which I missed.

Then there were: The 757 in the Dallas Mav's scheme
2 EOS 757s
2 Maxjet 767s

Maxjet did a few proving flights from Orlando before they started operations. Someone from Maxjet, member of this site said they chose MCO for proving runs since it was one of the cities they were considering.

I think I saw a MaxJet 767-200 over at GSO today...it was in the livery that Laxintl had in Reply 7 and was parked over at Timco. I saw one of their 767s at Timco last year as well, so I'd assume this was a new pickup for them. I was wondering what it was at first, but thought it was MaxJet.
