As I understand Go! just started out. Have they been in operation for several weeks out. My real question is should I book on them at $ 104 RT HNL to KOA Kona, Big Island or is it safer to spend 140 and go on either Hawaiian or Aloha. This is for July 13 & 14

Thanks for your opinions. It's for a quick hop over and back in the islands, I am already flying NW SEA to HNL for the week.

Safer? If you're worried about Go! shutting down within the next few weeks, I doubt it. So you're safe as far as that is concerned. If you want the cheaper ticket, go for Go! If you are looking for a bit more comfortable ride, go for HA. If you're looking to fly a 737 classic, then fly Aloha.  Smile

Go! is part of veteran regional carrier Mesa, so there should be no worries that Go! will shut down any time soon. However, Go! flies the CRJ-200 at present, so an HA 717 would be more comfortable. But on a 30 min flight, who cares that much about comfort over price?

I didn't mean in a flight safety sense which I assume they are fine. What I meant was are the past the start up stage where there are a high # of delayed or cancelled flights. Just like it is best to let a new restaurant settle in before trying it.

I also wasn't taking the last flight out in the evening back. The next morning I have my return flight to the mainland.

I did realize they are a CRJ which is cozy. It couldn't be any worse than the 4 seater from Juneau to Skagway, those are small.

Have you checked Island Air? For your dates I'm seeing fares as low as $99.40 round trip between HNL and KOA.

I wouldn't support Go! on principal. Support a local carrier

Where's the passion gone out of the airline industry? The smell of jetfuel and the romance of taking a flight....

Qantas, Virgin Blue, Jetstar and Australian Airlines don't provide domestic services in Hawaii.

If you want better schedules, rather than just one or two daily departures, pick one of the established inter-island carriers.

We are the people of American Airlines. And we know why you fly.

Thanks for the tip. The flight HNL-KOA is actually via Hilo, probably great views of the mountains as it hops over the island.

For a cooler ride try Pacific Wings! Nothing like getting crammed in a Cessna Caravan! As for go! our departures are doubling due to another A/C coming online. Not that many delays pretty much on time. Nice ride and as stated earlier it is a thirty minute flight. The FA's can barely serve on these flights whats the difference?

That's a great point - Island Air have Q400s, how can you go wrong with them (even if you miss out on a Q400, their other aircraft are still Dash 8s)!!

Virgin Blue - what colour's RED????

My in-laws flew Island Air a couple of months ago and found it to be a nice (cheap) alternative, especially considering they flew to Kapalua-Maui. I wouldn't count on a Q400 just yet as IIRC, only one has made its way out here. Their fares (as mentioned) are extremely competitive although the flight might take a couple of minutes longer than AQ, HA or go!. I haven't flown go! just yet but prefer HA to AQ, hands down.

Out of principle, I can't recommend a company who prevents anyone from visiting their web site that is not using Internet Explorer for Windows. Worse, if you do go in with IE, it re-sizes your browser window to a tall, skinny size. Lame.

Yeah, that is one good reason! Not.

Forget the RJs, go with HA and the 717...

Just a dumb question that I could easily google, but hey now!

What is the longest GO! flight? Are the flight crews even getting full hour flights? How many trips do you think the inter-island flight crews for the airlines based in Hawaii fly a day? Oh man, I bet it is an interesting career.

Being part of Mesa, Go! will be around a while. Plus, if Mesa decides to pull the service, people will get at least relatively advanced notice, i guarantee.

Good goes around!

I think the longest ones I have seen in the logbook is around 37-42 minutes.

As for the crews I have no Idea how many legs but our A/C do about 15 legs a day.
