Before your thread is moved or deleted, I believe in terms of acreage, Riyadh is the biggest. If Mirabel is also considered biggest, then it also qualifies as the biggest flop in terms of a new(er) airport.

In terms of land mass (at least in the US) MCI is one of the biggest. The airport has 10,000 acres and roughly 4,000 is developed.

Well, I wouldn't suggest deletion as the topic is interesting (although may have been discussed several times before)....but the thread heading is strange...

Would be interesting to know which is the worlds largest airport in terms of developed area .... guess that would include all terminals, runways/taxiways, maintenance areas, etc....

At 53 sq. miles, DEN is the largest airport by area in the United States.

According to wikipedia:

King Fahd International Airport is located near Dammam, Saudi Arabia. It is the largest airport in the world in terms of area, covering 780 km² (301 mi²), surpassing Montréal-Mirabel International Airport (including Mirabel's reserved but unused 356 km² (137 mi²)). It is slightly larger than the neighboring country of Bahrain.

PIT sits on 10,000 acres of land, or 15.63 sq miles. No where near DEN but still up there.

This is correct. In terms of area comparisons, King Fahd International is indeed bigger than Bahrain, and Mirabel is actually bigger than all five boroughs of New York put together. Wikipedia also has a good diagram of what the airport would have looked like in plan if all five terminals and additional runways had been built:

Perhaps the BBC could license Top Gear to the CBC and we could have one hell of a big race track for a Quebecois 'le stig' to go bombing around... Big grin

That assumes the price of oil will not collapse any time soon. A big part of Dubai's boom is the inflow of money from other parts of the Middle East rich in oil.

I'd say destinations worldwide, it would be London Heathrow, Chicago O'Hare, and New York JFK.

Most countries in the world...
