Hi,

Report from Skytrax,

http://www.worldairlineawards.com/Awards-2006/Yclass.htm

"Malaysia Airlines is the winner of the 2006 Award for Best Economy Class - an award is based upon quality of product and service standards supplied on long-haul, intercontinental routes. Runner-up is Singapore Airlines, with Swiss moving from 6th in 2005 to take 3rd this year, Qatar Airways into 4th place (2005=9th), and Emirates maintaining a ranking in the top 5."

It is surely good news in a dark, dark period for the company now.

...with Swiss moving from 6th in 2005 to take 3rd this year, Qatar Airways into 4th place (2005=9th)...

Either the survey is flawed, or Swiss really upped their game recently.

I think this is where MH should concentrate on after this. As the report said, it's the butter and bread of Airlines. Seeing the best First Class goes to Cathay Pacific and Best Bussiness Class goes to British Airways and with high competition with SQ, MH should dominates the Economy during its corporate restructure. because it will contribute more on its revenue..

Now Malaysian Airlines belongs to Malaysian Goverment. Recently we have problem with the company, but the Malaysian Goverment will bring out the company from the dark period. Even in this period, we still continue our deal for the A380. Life has to go on.

That's funny.... I received this one this week :

United Airlines Wins Best Economy Class
in OAG Airline of the Year Awards

United Airlines offers the Best Economy/Coach Class in the world, according to the annual OAG Airline of the Year Awards recently held in London.

"We are thrilled to receive this prestigious recognition from business travelers the world over for Economy Plus, our unique economy class offering, which provides a more comfortable travel experience for our customers," says Dennis Cary, senior vice president-Marketing, United Airlines. "This award reinforces the fact that Economy Plus and the additional legroom it offers is highly valued by frequent flyers."

In addition to Best Economy/Coach Class, United also was an OAG nominee for Best Airline Based in North America, Best Transpacific Airline, Best Transatlantic Airline, Best Executive/Business Class and Best International First Class.

Different Awards Ceremony, Different Winners.  Smile

Regarding MH and its future, I sort of agree with their Ex-CEO.

Different Awards Ceremony

Skytrax do not have Award Ceremonies. They go to the HQ of an airline with some glass thing and take a photo. This only happens when airlines acknowledge the award.

The Airline of the Year 2004 (Skytrax) snubbed the company's awards.

The OAG Awards have a very good reputation and are well respected by the airline industry.

As a frequent MAS traveller who has now migrated to Star Alliance - I sit here at BKK (having arrived from KUL) waiting for tonights Swiss flight to Zurich. I have to say the service out of Zurich was fantastic and surprisingly only very 'slightly' off par with SQ and MH.

Am happy to be taking LX back to Europe again.  Smile

I was very pleased with the service I got in economy on MH. I have flown from the Uk to Australia twice now with MH and they were brill. I tell all my friends to go with them. It helps that KLIA is such a nice airport to stop at on the way!
