A record number of people travelled internationally to or from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport during Week 24 (June 12-18), exceeding 300,000 for the first time. So far this year, international travel at Arlanda has been nine per cent more than the same period of 2005.
To be exact, 307,208 passengers chose to fly internationally to or from Arlanda during Week 24. At no time in Arlanda’s more than 40-year history have so many people travelled internationally during the same week. The previous record was from the same week of 2001, when 294,257 people travelled internationally.
“June is a strong air travel month. Holidaymakers choose air travel for relaxation and to meet relatives and friends in other countries. At the same time, more and more people are taking their holidays later in the year, which means there are still plenty of business travellers,” says Niclas Härenstam, Manager Press Relations at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport.
During the year as a whole, an estimated twelve million passengers will travel internationally to or from Arlanda. Including Swedish domestic traffic, Arlanda foresees nearly 18 million passengers during 2006.
Looking good =) Maybee this will bring more international/inter-continental routes to ARN?
