so far it seem as if USA-Emirates flights are doing well....

I remember when EK started its first JFK-DXB-JFK flight, I flew on it after it started a few weeks earlier..the flights were 1/2 empty.. spin

EY's Diamond Zone product has been unveiled, on their website. It's VERY nice! Their A345 is their first aircraft with a three class configuration (owned ones).

yes youre correct as on their original business application to the US DOT, EWR and not JFK was mentioned...god knows why they changed their minds...at least with EWR they would have served a niche market and faced no competition from EK.

JFK is supportive by O/D alone. How many times must it be said on this forum that New York City is the largest O/D market in the country? Emirates flys to JFK for the same reason. Emirates does not need to feed off of Delta, American, or United to fill its upcoming 3 daily flights.

my friend, if you ever check the passenger distribution of EKs currently flown 2 daily JFK-DXB-JFK flights then you will see for yourself that around 38% of the pax end their journey beyond NYC and connect onwards with AA and DL via JFK.

There is a good reason as to why EKs flights into JFK arrive at 7am and 2pm respectively as they are perfectly timed to connect with AA and DLs flights from JFK to the other big U.S. cities on the East/West/Midwest regions.

EK carries a lot of pax who originate from Canada on their JFK flights. These pax fly AA and DL from YYZ & YUL to JFK.

They arrive at 7am, and 2pm due to flow restrictions at JFK...

EK is not full of Canadians, please support proof of this. The New York City is full of the de-facto highest disphora of persons of Arabic, and Indian persons in the United States. In addition the JFK flights are full with JFK originating pax making onward connections to Africa, Asia, and Australia.

you are taking this way off context...i never said that theyre full of Canadians, read what I wrote carefully...I said that they carry a lot of Canada originating pax on every flight from JFK especially in the low season where the average is 30-35 per flight.

Apologies one to many Bellinis at the Peninsula Bar.. lol.. I understand what you are saying, one thing I would like to know since you are in Canada. There is immense wealth in and around Toronto and Vancouver, why has EK not entered the market. Or are Air Canadas protectors still out in full force?

1. heavy anti EK lobbying by AC in Ottawa

2. bilateral doesnt allow EK/EY combined to fly more than 6 weekly flights to Canada.

3. EK were given the authority to fly 6 weekly YYZ flights in 2003 but said no as they wanted daily or nothing. Needless to say, AC and Ottawa Govt told them to take a hike!

What about other potential desitinations like IAD, Houston or Chicago? I think EY would have been able to capture a market niche waiting for non stop flights out to the Middle east.

This eliminates flying out to JFK to catch a connection to DXB before connecting to any destinations in the asian subcontinent.

but EY is developing an extensive route structure from AUH also...so one might not need to travel through DXB..
