Air Canada wins Global Traveler magazine’s annual “Wines on the Wing” competition.

Thirty-one of the world’s top airlines submitted 150 wines served in Business Class. Judging took place in New York City in March 2006 by 35 judges, including sommeliers, wine educators, importers/exporters, wine retailers, winemakers, wine buyers, wine growers and journalists.

Air Canada won the “Best Wines on the Wing” award for the best wine program and also placed first in the category of Best Champagne/Sparkling Wine for Drappier Carte d’Or Brut, a blend of 90 percent pinot noir with 10 percent chardonnay and pinot meunier.

In the red wine category, Air Canada had two wines place in the Top 10 - the 1999 Benton Lane Reserve Pinot Noir from Oregon and the 2002 Treana Paso Robles from California. "This award was won largely on the popularity of our recently developed "Featured Selection" program in Executive First", points out Rob Ramage, Senior Director, In-Flight Product. "Our team was able to present top wines to our customers by monitoring the market for great value."

Way to go AC. not bad. I hope this isn't the same post cause I don't see it on the net. You care for some wine  Smile

It's not only their wine. I really like their meals too, not to mention the EnRoute magazine, probably the best in the world.

I guess it's just a matter of minutes before this thread is moved to Polls & Prefs...

The eR mag has been recognized and received top awards for best In-Flight magazine for several years.

The Treana wine is amazing as based on guest consumption and feedback.
