Yes, it has begun. Effective 1 August 2006, all Miami-Santiago de Chile flights will flown exclusively with the new configuration.

Which aircraft are equipped with the new seats? I assume that when the new cabins were installed, PTVs were as well, but I could be wrong.

Yes, since BOG is simply a stop on the daylight MIA-SCL flight. The other alternating stops - PUJ, CUN, and CCS - will see the new planes too.

Not really, the new seats have been flying since march, when the newest 763 was received. MDJunkie posted a photo of one of his friends flying the aircraft:

I hope to God I get CC-CWF on my upcoming MIA-LIM-MIA trip...

I think you misunderstood what MAH4546 said, though. Yes, the 767s with the new interiors have been flying since March, but now there are enough so that on any MIA-SCL flight, you're guaranteed one of them.

They won't, the plan includes 763s only

You're right, I misinterpreted what you said, thinking that you thought flights with the new seats would start in august.

I'm sorry

CC-CWG, the second of this last 767 batch LAN ordered, was delivered last Saturday to SCL, arrived on a ferry flight from LAX.

It's now being certified by the DGAC.

I certainly wished that I was able to fly the updated 767 on my recent trip to Santiago on LAN. Alas, it was the old seats and really old IFE. Though, I enjoyed my flight(s) on LAN, you can read all about it in my trip report

How many planes have the new interior? And what routes will receive the updated metal first besides SCL... will Ecuador be next? or LIM? And does anyone know where I can get the routing of the planes? Because Lan exchanges their planes across their entire "LAN affiliates", but I am not sure how they do the routes... Plus, what will the plane from the direct EZE-MIA do during its long time in MIA?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but after my meeting with with the LAN reps, there are at least 2 in service (767), but did not elborate on what flights they are on. You are correct, the planes are interchangeable with the Lan affiliates, though, the airline stresses that they are one airline, LAN, with varouis routes and hubs through out South America.
The planes I would assume are parked at MIA all day, just like AA and DL's are parked at SCL all day.

Lan will probably send the aircraft off somewhere else, and then have another one come in from a different city to fly the return leg. Lan does this with a lot of its flights, such as the red-eye MIA-LIM flight. The aircraft that flies it arrives from GYE via UIO, is turned around, and is off to LIM.

They can't do this in Argentina - that's why they are dedicating planes to their Argentine affiliate and then making them fly for their other subsidiaries with Argentine crew.

So far, only CC-CWF is in service. CC-CWG will enter service within the next week, after its certification process. It is expected that, one of the older 767s (in config) will be taken out of service (could be CC-CML (ex-LV-ZPL) or CC-CEN) and reconfigured for an entry in service 15Aug06 with LAN Argentina's flight to MIA.

Ok, I got it slightly wrong , I was under the impression that both planes were in service.  embarrassed

I believe that one of the conditions they were allowed to start service under stipulated that the aircraft must be Argentinian-registered and use Argentinian crew.

It's amazing how few people in the US and Europe give LAN any thought at all as a major carrier. That said, having been on one recently, IMO the new business class seats are absolutly beautiful. The color schemes, the comforter blankets, huge personal IFE screens, tons of space and the nearly flat bed seats, LAN hands down beat most of the Europen and US carriers int'l business in comfort and style.

Not only that. The law forbids the swapping of equipment. It is to prevent having a ficticious airline to enable a foreign-owned airline of flying domestic flights. So, that way, LAN Argentina has planes of their own and operated by their own people.

So, does this mean that the Argentinan-registered and crewed airplane is forbidden from flying another route during its down time in MIA, even if the return is also operated by a Argentinan-registered and crewed airplane? (which could also be a different airplane)

It does not forbid the swapping of equipment as long as the crew stay with it. LAN is working to have LAN Argentina crew operate a LAN Ecuador flight from Miami during the day. This way, they won't have a plane wasting time at MIA all day. No idea if they are going to go through with it, but it will not happen until at least the second 767 arrives in November.
