I don't have a link to this, but a company email stated that NW has awarded a ground handling contract for a few cities to Air Wisconsin. The cities include TVC, SYR, SUX, and SBN plus a few others.

I didn't see this one coming, but one thing I have noticed is that management at Air Wisconsin seems to be putting more emphasis on our ground handling than on our flying, which worries me. We never hear any thing about our flying from management, but we hear all the raves about ground handling, which makes me wonder what direction ZW is heading in.

The other question this raises is this? With the NW RFP still out on the table and flying has not been awarded as a result, could this be a precursor to ZW getting some flying for NW? Personally as a ZW employee knowing that Midwest has one out there as well, I would rather see us get the Midwest flying and no NW flying. But us in ATW who have no way to non rev out of our own airport because of no service on ZW metal as opposed to all the other service in ATW, will take any chance we can get.

Did this Email have any starting dates for taking over? We are just trying to find this out for the employees.

The start dates for ZW taking over the NWA ramp will be in phases starting on September 14 and going through December 12.

I believe TVC and SBN are currenly mainline stations. Unsure about the others. It's another nail in Mesaba's coffin. With all the ground handling they do for NWA, to not get this bid would be a real sign of no confidence by NWA.

It's funny how an e-mail is released, but none of the groundhandlers are even told about it..I was talking at work today, and everyone was like WHAT ARE YOU TALKNG ABOUT? haha but good news for Air Wisconsin, bad news for the mainline employees at NW.. I hate it when good people get stiffed by management

This is the result of the IAM's new contract. Only 40 US stations in the NW system will retain NW employees. The flying, however, will continue to be operated by NW. Just more outsourcing.

Anybody know about other stations like PVD? There is some speculation that one of the current contract ramp inhabitants will get the contract. I was just wondering if anyone heard some inside stuff?

Air Wisconsin did not get PVD.

There is no doubt that this new contract is good news for ZW. I am, obviously, sorry for the people who are negatively affected by this. As an Air Wisconsin employee I know what it is like to lose you work to another bidder!

But for us it is without doubt good news. Yes, there seems to be a de-emphasis on the flying lately, but I don't think that is much to be worried about. I would be much more worried if there were other signs of impending demise. We are still hiring and the company gives lip service to expanding, and now they have with the ground handling.

I would love to see us get the Midwest flying AND that NWA flying. But again, I don't want to participate in a 'race to the bottom' where we have to lower our standards in order to get it.

We still have one SF34 to DTW, all other flights are Airbii or DC9's.

Does anyone have a link to this? One of NW's current Airlink partners was under the impression they were getting these cities.
