Hi all... While waiting for a Skywest flight yesterday at HLN, I heard a loud plane coming. It was a military version of the 707 (I think that is the KC-135)? Immediately afterwards a WN 737-700 (N718SW) landed (12:35pm/Mountain Time) and taxied next to the military plane. I would assume it was a military charter? We took off at 1:00pm so I am not sure if it was picking up or dropping off? Just a really nice site to see at an airport that only has 5 daily Skywest CRJs, 2 Horizon Q400s, 1 Mesaba CRJ and a few Big Sky Metros. Anyone know where it was coming from or going to? Thanks.

GQfluffy... you are correct. My mistake! Funny also how in HLN there are two jetways...one is the old Western/Delta one and the other one looks brand new and added after the airport refurbishment. Wonder why that is so seeing that the CRJ is the largest scheduled plane there? I do not think either is used today. Wish that GQ was independant and had jets. That would be a treat. I remember a "paper" airline that actually had its own website (Montana West Airlines). They promised 727 service to places like DEN and MIA. Believe it was to be based in BZN but flights were to be point-to-point. Of course it never made it off of the ground.
Oh well we can always dream. Thanks EI787 on the Flightaware website. Pretty cool. I have not used it before.

Quoting GQfluffy (Reply 2): Pinnacle...well...they used to anyway....fly in RJs for NW. GQ also doesn't fly Metros anymore...just Beechcraft 1900Ds... Big grin
You do know that Mesaba has a couple CRJ's However, that flight was operated by Pinnacle, and they only fly for NW, and unless they buy their own planes then thats all they will fly for, NW sub leases every single one of their planes to them.

Yeah, I noticed that last week when I was at home. I know from time to time we bring in charters (usually 737s). That old DL jetway that's been there from the dawn of time (would you believe it was actually a NW jetway that DL leased for years....still not sure if they bought it finally or not) wasn't working when I worked in HLN right before the remodel and when I transferred to BIL last fall, it still wasn't working...so who knows what they've done to it. That new jetway was supposedly (key word there) able to handle QX's Dash 8s, but I didn't think there was a jetway out there that would get that low. So maybe that new jetway is there for future expansion or for those charters that sometimes fly in.
And you brought up GQ. It's kind of funny that GQ started out with a/c similar to QX, at the same time as well, and now look at where QX is at compared to GQ...

Didn't GQ start with HPJ Jetstreams and Cessna 402s, whereas QX started with F-27s?
I know GQ started 3 years prior to QX, though.
As for jetwyas for dhc-8s. There is one or two at Idaho Falls that Horizon uses as it was used on a flight I was on last November. And it was a -200.
I thought it was funny that by the time they got the jetway up anconnected, everyone could have been well inside the terminal. But it was nice since it was 30 degrees and 20 mph wind!
