From the archived forum...
Tomorrow, 11th July G-EZIB will leave the EZY fleet to become HB-JZP with EZS (in GVA) from Thursday 13th July. Earlier predictions about growth for EZS are now starting to become apparent. What's on the cards, I wonder?

Isn't this the aircraft needed to add capacity in GVA and launch the 3 new destinations: OLB, LIS and AGP?

Does someone know if they will keep the routes to Istanbul from LTN and BSL during the winter?
I see both routes are not bookable (yet?) effective winter timetable. I know that there are some problems with traffic rights but would be a shame to see the routes get dropped since the flights are packed on every single flight.
P.S.: I am asking because my credit card waits for another easyJet booking...

Things in Basel aren't as good as what RJ100 makes it out to seem. A large number of flights have seen a reduction in frequency compared to last year (for winter season) in order to make place for Munich.
This is further emphasised by Philippe Vignon, who said that "easyJet's strategy at Basel-Mulhouse is way less offensive as in Geneva. Working in a catchment area ranging over three countries is complicated. easyJet intends to consolidate its position at EuroAirport before thinking of expansion." (Source ATS)

I needed to laugh a little bit when they said "expansion in BSL is less offensive". The base in BSL is one year old and we have already 4 aircraft based here. Operations in GVA started in 1999 and you have 7 or 8 there.
I don't see a reduction in services from BSL like you do runway23. It is more than logical that typical summer destinations will see a reduction in winter. That is just the flexibility that is needed in this market. Look at Dortmund for instance...they will lose one aircraft during the winter while we keep all of ours.
I'm happy with MUC and the rest that EZS does in BSL. And they are happy here as well.
Consolidation in BSL (if they really do so) also has another reason...LX and LH promised to lauch several things in 2007 so EZS maybe wants to check this out first.

Any chances of the rumoured BSL-MAN service? Also would EZS consider GVA - MAN in place of the DSA service which has been cancelled for this winter season? There is only BA operating a daily service from MAN-GVA year round and also LS over the winter season, plus the odd charter.

To be honest, I don't see it happen (nothing is impossible though ).
There are still some gaps left in the BSL schedule (most likely to be filled with PMI and SAW again). For instance one aircraft leaves BSL at 8 in the morning for the first rotation, indicating that the aircraft will do a night flight.
But I guess BSL-MAN will be one of the routes served by Swiss once they made a final decision on what is going on.
As for GVA-MAN I don't know, maybe some locals can help.

Looks like EZS hav also dropped their Bournemouth GVA winter services, the city is no longer visable on the destination map. DSA has also been removed as expected as the route has been dropped! Didnt know EZS were dropping their BOH service, oter threads suggest the service went well last winter?
Why is it you have never been able to make it to a ZRH meet? Is that because you have something against Swiss puliing ut of bSL(I have the same feelings towards SR pulling out of GVA) or is it because of Basel- Zurcih rivalry? Glidepath told me he has tried to convince you to come but in vain.
Just asking the question...not angry at you at all !

Quoting RootsAir (Reply 17): One has to admit that the GVa base IS the main Swiss base of EZY and headquarters of EasyJet Switzerland. Thus iots pretty obvious that its operations out of GVA are greater than out of BSL
Sorry guys, what's the point? Did I say something different?
Fact is that easyJet has based 4 aircraft in BSL in less than one year. The base was growing faster than most of the other bases (and reachesd profitability faster than most other bases, this spring to be precisely according to the same Mr. Vignon quoted in above posts). It is clear that they cannot keep up this rate of growth. But some people already see something bad in this. I just posted that they are going to launch services to MUC which is a great news and a good move by EZS (it is a destination that can be filled ALL YEAR and not only during the summer like some ohters, further the German routes out of BSL are money makers per se, Berlin reaching profitability after 2 weeks of operations).
I don't see the need of a localist Swiss war on this and I did not start one here so again what's the point? This thread is here to post news about EZS! Posting news is what I do here- nothing else!
Quoting RootsAir (Reply 17): Why is it you have never been able to make it to a ZRH meet?
It has several reasons. I am currently travelling a lot plus I need to read a few dozens of books for my studies at the same time. Next week I'll leave to Russia which consumed a lot of time to organise as well.
Quoting RootsAir (Reply 17): Is that because you have something against Swiss puliing ut of bSL(I have the same feelings towards SR pulling out of GVA) or is it because of Basel- Zurcih rivalry?
My feelings towards Swiss are well known (nothing changed with that of course) but have nothing to do with Zurich in general. I am very critical towards Swiss but in all my posts I have never ever written something against Zurich.
Quoting RootsAir (Reply 17): Glidepath told me he has tried to convince you to come but in vain.
That was for the first meeting though (I was in Luton on that weekend).
Damn people, Swiss aviation is doing better than ever, all airports in Switzerland see good and improving figures...there's simply no need to bitch against each other.
