Found this little tidbit....interesting to see they are interested in adding a 767-300ER to their fleet for business-class longhaul services from Europe to LAX.......I wonder if MaxJet would jump on this opportunity...it seems that the business case might be there...

"It also signed a contract on July 6 to add a 56-seat 767-300ER to its VIP fleet by the second half of 2007, replacing a BBJ 1. "We want to have a long-haul aircraft available which is able to operate nonstop sectors Geneva-Los Angeles or to Hong Kong," Thomas said. Nevertheless, he is talking with airlines about wet-leasing a 767 in an all-business layout with up to 90 seats, and "we are also speaking with Boeing to evaluate the 787 for our fleet in several years to come."

PrivatAir currently operates six days a week out of Zürich, Düsseldorf and Munich to Newark and Chicago on behalf of Lufthansa and Swiss. What seems different about PrivatAir versus Eos and Maxjet is that PrivatAir is operating the aircraft as a wet lease or ACMI on behlaf of a major carrier in many cases who are already offering similar service on its widebodies. Eos and Maxjet are operating under their own. It seems as though there is a new trend in development for scheduled only F and C Class service for international destinations.

PrivateAir also flies AMS-IAH for KLM, which is other than the routes for LH/LX. AMS-IAH is in addition to a daily widebody by KLM on this route while for LH/LX they only fly routes which otherwise are not operated by them.

true, but the article makes one to believe at least a little bit that they might want to purchase the 787 as opposed to wet leasing it..of course, its speculative...

Holy crap! Now that's a layout I want to see! It must be a set up of the BA or UA type suite seats but it has to be a bigger version of the seat because from what I understand, UA did a study a while back and they found they could get 44 on a 737 and something like 72 on a 757. It will probably be a new set up like this corporate arrangement that Private Air already has with thier 16 saet BBJ.

I think another new airline is getting ready to launch 767 service with these sleeper seats soon, (check the 767) but I can't remember for the life of me who it is.



Either way, it will be quite the aircraft.

Imagine the range they will get for new nonstop markets with a 787-8 or -9 configured with approximately 90 F or C Class seats along with the fuel and maintenance efficiency gains over a 767.

That is interesting. KLM are really going after the high yield passenger by offering suplemental service to their daily widebody flight with a BBJ flight dedicated to all Business Class. Now that's class.....

I was just thinking the same. A 787 is quite a leap from a 737 in terms of size, but it might enable LHR-SYD. They could even operate it on behalf of BA or QF. It may be more feasible than stretching an A345 or B772LR to their limits.
