Getting your boarding card, and leaving your luggage before getting to the airport is great.

I've checked-in at Paddington Railway station (for the Heathrow Express), and left my luggage there, for flights to Riyadh and Madrid with BA, and recently my father with Finnair.

Dump your luggage, grab the boarding card and...RELAX. Get on the train, and arrive at the airport in 15mins. Bypass check-in, and smirk at the long queus!!

At Riyadh, you can check-in at the BA office down-town, and your luggage gets taken to the airport! It's brilliant, because check-in at Riyadh is chaotic; LH and AF use the same desks as BA, so the queus there are a nightmare.

Just thought I'd share that with you; I just hate all the waiting at the airports.

Air Canada has introduced a system at Pearson where it is an express check-in kiosk. I myself have yet to use it though. All you need is a Major Credit Card or an Aeroplan card.

oneworld lets you check in at the Scandic Hotel Continental and at the City Terminal (Rautatieasema, or Central Railway Station) in central Helsinki for oneworld international flights and Finnair domestic flights with no baggage. Also available is phone check-in for Business Class, Finnair Plus Silver, Gold, and Platinum (or corresponding oneworld tier) passengers and Finnair Club members, and you pick up your ticket and drop off your luggage at a special check-in desk.

SQ let you check in in their downtown office in SIN up to 48 hours before departure, even if you're flying on economy. Then you can drop off your luggage at a special check-in desk 1 hour before your flight. You can also use the phone, fax, or email check-in.

Yes they do (Aloha)...used it last week....great service. HP used to have the same thing at their PHX hub but the money problems of the 80's put in in the dumper.

Great, eh? Hong Kong Chep Lap Kok lets you do the same by checking in downtown at Kowloon station and then go on the 23 minutes ride on the airport shuttle train. It's really comfortable and you may have a nice view or even a PTV to pass the time!
