Aviation Fan,

This can be very confusing. Techinically, SQ has 777-200ERs. However, because the aircraft are only used on medium-haul routes, they have been derated. The engines are derated (don't provide all the thrust they could) and the aircraft's MTOW has been derated, mainly through the closing of the center-wing tank. However, SQ has purchased 10 normal -200ERs, with the first ones to be delivered next year. These will begin replacing the airline's A340 fleet. Currently, SQ has 13 derated -200ERs in its fleet, as well as 5 -300s. More derated -200ERs and -300s are to be deliered in the coming months, as well as the 'normal' -200ERs.

Hello Hamlet 69,

Would you know at versions of the derated Trent 800 they use please?

I assume the next "true" 777-200ERs will be powered by Trent 895 (SIA is a large freight carrier, and therefore would probably opt for the highest thrust available), won't they?

Best regards,
Alain Mengus

So if SQ knew they were going to be using their 777's meduim-haul, why did they buy the 772ER's in the first place?
