AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- There really was a snake on a plane -- and a poisonous one at that.

Dutch customs officials found a live poisonous snake in a package sent by airmail from Hong Kong to a collector in the Netherlands.

Officials said customs inspectors thought the snake was a rubber gag gift when they first scanned the package. However, the inspectors learned that the snake was a live creature when they noticed it moving.

Officials don't know if the snake might have posed a threat to passengers had it escaped, as in the upcoming movie "Snakes on a Plane."

Dutch authorities said it is illegal to ship vipers to the Netherlands without special permits.

The article can be found here.

I know the title is misleading but it's what the article provided and I'm too lazy to think of one. So please save your time and don't.

On another note, Stephen Colbert (my personal hero) would have gotten a kick out of this story as he is an anti-snake-on-a-plane kinda guy...

Thanks,

Matt

So many cabin crew jokes come to mind.

Is it just me or are we having more than our fair share of "snake-on-airplane" incidents this year?

I only referenced it because of Colbert's campaign against them and because there's that stupid movie coming out with it. Though it stars Samuel Jackson so I think I'd place my $9 and file it as a taxable donation to the disabled. I have a feeling that outside of lacking talent, the move will have no plot outside of snakes on a plane. Lmao sooooo lame.
