The 747-300's were Big Tops,-400's Megatops,777 Jubilees. Anyone got any clues on what SIA will call their whalejets?

Probably nothing, as they were phasing out the *top nomenclature.

This is probably the correct answer.....SQ seems to be moving away from its rather nice tradition of naming its airplane types.

Sadly, no. The internal nickname I've been hearing at SQ is Big Bird. I don't know whether or not SQ will paint Big Bird on the aircraft. I would guess not.

...they could go with "Rare Bird" since their first will be the only one actually delivered to a customer for some time.  duck I think "Early Bird" would be out of the question.  wink  duck

If there is another delay maybe it will be called the "Dirty Bird" for crapping on their scheduled promotions.  crying

I really hope this is true - because that "....-TOP" crap really didnt fit the sophisticated image SQ is all about. I always felt that was a little outta place.

Some cheesy airline like One-Two-Go or Jetstar or some LCC is where I'd expect to see planes given silly names like MEGATOP and BIGTOP . Then again, AA calling an MD80 a LuxuryJet or Eastern calling a 727 a "Whisperjet" (!!!!??), though in a different way, were laughable too.
