I was looking at Lambert-St.Louis (STL) website and in the section under air carriers there is a photo of an L1011 in the top corner. http://www.lambert-stlouis.com/index/airlines.html

I thought that was cool. You can't see name or numbers, but does anyone recoginze it? That is kind of an unusal plane to put on the website, but maybe it is a tribute to TWA. Probably not though.

Its not Pan Am because it's a L-1011-1, has a passenger door just aft of the wing. Pan Am only had L-1011-500's.

My guess is a TWA that has been photo shopped making the red stripe blue and removing the TWA from the tail.

Lambert has always had a pretty shoddy web page. Even when they re-did their sorely outdated old webpage, they ripped the pages from it. It wouldn't surprise me if that L-1011 was the first image off a google image search.

It's funny because that picture is indicative of how the airport has been ran and abused the past 20 years. Everything that Lambert seems to do, they don't do it 100%. If St. Louis wants to live up to its full potential as an airport and a regional center of commerce, everything needs to be done better than before. Hopefully the new regime will change the old, frustrating ways..........

Looks like an Eastern Airlines L1011, Eastern flew one daily STL-ATL on the L1011 .

Behind the L1011 is a TWA 727 taxing too.

Could even be an old ATA L1011, I know their old color schemes had two lines too like TWA did.

Definitely a photo shop product, and you are correct sir, looks like a TW L10.

Actually the routing on that flight was ATL-STL-SEA-STL-ATL, which started in the mid-70's and ran thru the late-70's/early-80's, IIRC.

They probably should replace the picture with an AA widebody plane,,,oh wait, thats right,, AA does not fly widebodies to STL... Probably why they photo-shopped the TWA plane blue-- I guess they could put a Fed-Ex DC10 on the page.

Thanks for the help. I wish I could fly at L1011 out of or to STL. I remember once flying a TWA L1011 from STL to ORD and back, 1990 or 91. I can't imagine using a plane like that anymore on such a short hop. It was close to full. It is a shame that STL is no longer a hub. Only SWA and NWA offer DTW-STL non-stop. I go to STL all the time and like to fly different airlines, but now I fly only NWA, they usually have the best price, and I go out of my way to fly on DC-9s one day they will be gone and I will miss them like I miss TWA and dad misses OZARK My dad and I flew TWA right up to the end.

I hear you, my first L1011 flight was TWA STL-LGA when I was kid, full plane as well, full breakfast served in coach, TWA first class service. Flying today is not the same.
