Looks like the move that many anticipated is close to becoming a reality as they actually have a building pegged for their logo. Does anyone have any figures on the real estate prices in SFO and DEN? The article cited the prospective building at $35-$38 a sq ft. Looks like UA (and other US carriers) are going to have to pinch pennies with oil nearing $80/bbl.

Believe all the costs to move the small group downtown is pretty much covered by the deal with the city on funding...also allows UA to have a true chicago zip code and address now grin!! Also have read that the space emptied at Elk Grove will allow them to bring in the other groups in the area that have been in out parcels due to lack of space further reducing costs. Old time UAL folks will grumble it is like have Wolfe back who also had his offices downtown I would guess......
Think it is more interesting they are snuggling up closer to Boeing's address....now there is a thought that will fester....

UA and Boeing came from the same company. One of UA's predecessor companies was Boeing Air Transport (BAT). The other three were Varney Air Lines, Pacific Air Transport and National Air Transport (NAT). The stars on the UA captain's hat still reflect this.

(WSJ) CHICAGO – UAL Corp.'s United Airlines, after scouting locations as far afield as San Francisco and Denver, Saturday said it will move its headquarters staff into a high-rise office building in downtown Chicago early next year, preserving its status as Chicago's "hometown airline..."
...United currently is based in suburban Elk Grove Township, Ill., near its largest hub at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. United said the move of about 350 jobs to the downtown office tower once called the R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co [77 W. Wacker] building will allow it to reap significant savings by consolidating its suburban Chicago real estate holdings. The relocation will be aided by $5.25 million in financing from the City of Chicago, $1.35 million in grants from the State of Illinois and help from the building's landlord, Prime Group Realty Trust. The airline said it signed a 15-year lease...

Great to see UA embracing its Chicago roots. I flew UA ORD-SEA on wednesday and i got to see what i think is a new sign in the airbridge at gate C19.... "More flights than anyone. More destinations than anyone. More Chicago than anyone."
