Looks like the "standing on the runway" scene in Pushing Tin.  Smile

I love long German words like 'Freundschaftsbezeigungen'.

It really is quite a rush. I was down their a few years back, and I wasn't even directly behind a KLM 747 and I was getting blown away. Someone closer to the middle of the runway fence had a fairly large stobe actually pierce and imbed in his leg. SXM never gets old.

I think this video is fake. The beach would be closed if the blast would be really so strong

No, it`s no fake. There are several different videos of SXM, showing the effect of the blast of aircraft engines, specially 747s, and the beach will not be closed. Perhaps the guys on the beach in this video overplayed a little bit.

I agree. That video is not a fake, and the people on the beach did do a little bit of acting.

This is what make SXM the special place that it is. Most people that visit the island have a story to tell about the beach. I have never been there but it is on the list.

I don't think they're being blown into the sea, but are just running in to get away from the sand blast.

Yup...most people don't realize how much that sand stings!! I've been there several times...they're making a beeline for the water!! Happens every time!!

...good times!

I would like to go to SXM. When I get my new g/f, we'll go there and get blasted by the jets.
