Flight service between Albany International Airport near Albany, N.Y., and John F. Kennedy International Airport will resume on Monday, July 17.

Albany airport officials said Delta's first flight will department to JFK at 11:19 a.m. Delta will gradually increase its flight schedule until it hits four daily flights starting Aug. 1, 2006.

A link to JFK will give Albany International travelers access to a larger network of national destinations and a major departure point for international flights.

Albany last had service to JFK through American Eagle, which suspended flights in 2003.

Its about time a carrier restores the ALB to JFK run. Its a well needed addition to
ALB's departure schedule. Anyone have any ideas as to what equipment will be used on this flight?

Maybe someone can get a pic? There isn't a single Freedom Air Dash-8 pic anywhere so far, and I'm dying to see what they look like!

Otherwise, good to see this service reinstated. In 2001, I flew ALB-JFK on American Eagle and since then, its been conspicuously absent for when I fly to/from my NY home.

Awesome shot of the Dash 8 JCXP15.
Now I actually look forward to flying in one again.

Too bad DL doesn't start ITH-JFK. ITH had service to JFK for many years. I'm sure the route could support two daily flights...especially when the students are in town.

MDT-JFK would be another great route. Currently there is no service between MDT and the NY City area.

The problem is going to be that JFK is already pretty choked with traffic in the air and on the ground between 3PM and 8PM. More connection feeder flights will just worsen an already bad situation.
