Just wanted to check here to see if anyone knows why there was an Iberia 757 in JAX today? It departed towards the south between 230pm and 330pm local time.

Now that must have been a surprise.......IB is phasing out it 757 fleet, could the aircraft have been on a delivery flight to a new operatoror headed somewhere for heavy maintainence?

That's quite possible. I couldn't find anything on Flightaware that even showed it being in JAX. I thought maybe I could find out where it was on that site, but no such luck.

It could be on its way to DL. After all they are/did purchase the TWA B-757's.

Is there not a large repair station in JAX? If so, that could be where it's heading.

DL is finalizing its deal to lease the ex-TW/AA 757s.....first the court must approve (detail, DL is in bankruptcy) and the airplanes will not start being delivered until mid 2007. What does an IB 757 have to do with DL?

It isn't. DL flies 757s with PW2037s, while IB's 757s all have RB211-535E4 engines under their wings.

I didn't get the reg. I first saw the tail over on the signature ramp as I was passing by, but said to myself "it couldn't be". Then I saw it depart runway 13 when I was in the middle of a conversation with someone. I completely tuned them out to watch it....

Interesting, where did it head to MIA, MCO? If it was going to get any type of maintenance/repainting and it was heading south I'd say it's probably going to Miami.

Did it depart as an Iberia flight?

Correct - I just found out the info today myself and came back here to post it.

Flew Madrid to Jacksonville direct as ADI001P on 17 July and is indeed in the US for cargo conversion then for Audeli Air.
