Airbus have announced a couple of A320 orders today

1: An undisclosed customer has ordered 1 x ACJ taking total sales for the year to 14 ACJs. This one is an A319CJ.

http://www.airbus.com/en/

2: Aegean Airlines have converted 3 x A320 Options into firm orders which increases their direct orders to 11 from 8 previously. They have 11 remaining options

http://www.aegeanair.com Aaah, it's in Greek so a translation is needed.

Excellant - wasn't there a rumour that Easyjet were going to convert some options at the show too?

Good news for Aegean. They are becoming stronger day by day.

During the last year they have announced the replacement of the dated B737s with A320 and their cooperation with LH (Codesharing) for Aegean flights to FRA.

Should we expect them to join Star Alliance soon?

Pardon my ignorance... do they offer other types as ACJ too?

Order of 3 more Airbus A320 from Aegean, 19/07/2006

Aegean airlines, the most famous expanding Greek airline, ordered today 3 more A320s. In total, Aegean has ordered 14 A320s, including 3 new planes leased from ILFC, according to the contract signed in December 2005. In parallel, Aegean retains its plans to order an extra 9 A320s. The delivery of the planes will start in January 2007 and will complete in June 2009. The cabins will be confiugured in economy and business (called Diakekrimenh, or distinguished) class. THe planes will have V2500 engines from International Aero Engines. The total investment for the purchase exceeds $600m.

the new planes will replace older ones in Aegean's fleet and will be used for the expansion of the domestic and international networks from the company's bases in Athens and Thessaloniki.

The rest talks about new destinations (Sofia and Bucharest) and want to expand (pending permission) to Konstantinopol, Belgrade, and Cairo. They also want to increase frequencies to Germany and Italy in 2007 and add 8 more destinations in 2008. They also emphasize their collaboration with LH. The last few paragraphs cover the usual: "we are proud to buy A320s", "we are proud to have Aegean as our customer", etc.

(sorry, ran out of time!)

Tony

Yes sir they do. The A318CJ Elite and also the A332VVIP which are included in the total of 14.

Thank you too for the translation and I had forgotten about the ILFC leases so I stand corrected on the numbers I initially posted.

Correct, strong rumours prior to the show have circulated about Easyjet. It is my opinion they will order another 25 A319s. It's just a question as to when they choose to do so sir  Wink

Ah, thanks for that. I had heard of the Elite (and forgotten about it), but I hadn't heard of the Prestige and A332VVIP.

I could translate the rest, but I think the press release will be issued in English too soon, so I can't be bothered!  Smile

A332VVIP

Hello, mate. The head of Airbus Corporate Jets had said sometime ago that they might give the A332VVIP a name too, if it gains additional orders.

Hard to miss it, but I think you're the one missing something. I doubt that the 40 A320s are configured as business jets, and being an LCC, it's highly unlikely that Air Asia would be putting an A332VVIP into revenue service!  Big grin (Clue: the "it" refers to an A332VVIP.) Need some more hints?

No, I did not miss the topic, which also includes an ACJ. My original post was in response to other posters' interest in the names of Airbus' other corporate jet models. The reference to the A332VVIP was attributed to Mr. Gaona. Do a search of their press releases. There was also mention of it in Airbus News of July 2006, titled "Airbus Corporate Jets Win Record 13 Sales In First Half."
[media_object_file]ACJ_record_sales_1st_half_2006.pdf

I suspect this to be a typo because the A332VIP was called Prestige.
