Local Cypriot press reports that the plan is to get people directly from the port to the airport in an effort to avoid the need for accommodation on the island which seems to be a problem at the moment.
"The chartered airplane landed about 6:30 a.m., with about 150 people on board, including several infants. Four more planes filled with evacuees are expected to arrive at the airport over the next two days, officials said."
"Dozens of service providers were lined up this morning at tables in BWI's main international terminal, waiting to assist the evacuees as soon as they disembarked from the Omni Air International DC-10 and went through customs."
So I guess that means the D10 cannot make it from LCA to BWI nonstop? But did they really change planes?

It appears that these are the same aircraft and charter airlines that do a lot of the military transport to/from USA and Kuwait/Iraq. Are these evacuation flights affecting those flights, or are they being done on off days for those flights?
At least it's one of the last ways one can get a ride on a pax DC-10/MD-11.
