Continental 757-300 Rumors

There have been rumors circulating from pilots that Continental is interested in purchasing 15 757-300s, which would supposedly be used for domestic flights.

This has nothing to do with the supposed launch of the 757-200ERX, its a completely different thing here.

If I were CO, I would replace all the 737s and 757s w/ no BF with 753s(which I would configure with BF seats) on routes to the West Coast from EWR. The replaced a/c would be moved to CLE and IAH for more mainline service. Of course, some 753s would operat to high density markets, such as BOS, Florida, ORD, etc. Maybe one or two would be deployed to IAH for some transcontinental service, or maybe a IAH-OGG.

But that's just my idea, the rest is up truth

The order for 753 is imminent. CO will order 20-25 of these aircraft for high-density domestic flights such as EWR-MCO, EWR-IAH, and IAH-LAX. The official announcement should be made in the next few weeks.

The 757-200ERX is under very strong consideration and will most likey be ordered as well.

Yeah, I heard that on a flight from EWR-LAX, a 738. My copilot told me that he overheard a conversation between some executives in an elevator in Houston. They said they would be based in EWR. I would have no problem flying that bird. It looks kind of fun. Now, all we have to order is the 777-300 to complete our orders of all the new Boeing stretches! (738/739,764,753)

As I understand it, the order will be for 10 52ERX's, 15 53's, with options for 15 more 53's.But until the contract is signed, only Gordon and Greg know for sure.

So Continental would become the first major airline to order the 757-300. So far Akria, ATA, Condor and Icelandair have ordered the 757-300. I heard rumours that TWA also is interested in the 757-300, TWA would be interested in it to eventually replace the 767-200.

I would sure hate to be seated in the last row on a full B757-300 flight. It would take so long to deplane the aircraft...somewhat like the old DC8-63.

This is not the first time that b757-300 rumors have circulated at CO. A reliable training department source earlier this summer said they were looking at the certification, training, and other implications of the aircraft.
I've also heard a rumor that the B737-900 will not do a transcon flight??? How many MCO turns can you do out of EWR when thats the only market that supports the aircraft other than some of the latin america stuff.
If they do go to the larger aircraft 753's on transcon markets as someone suggested, then what about flight frequency, which is a big marketing problem??
And finally, the biggest question of all, what pay scale does the 753 fall under?????
