Does anyone know how many gates JetBlue has secured in Houston Hobby airport?

The airport hasn't even updated their website to add JetBlue to their list of airlines.

I'm curious if they were able to get more than one gate - because I would love to see JetBlue expand in Houston!!!

Chances are that they secured only one gate simply because they only announced 3 flights. HOU won't be a growth market either because of WN's overwhelming presence. Look for non-stop BOS service too, but that's about it.

Most people on a.net hate JetBlue. Get used to it.

Anybody know how CO eventually responded? I know they added JFK service but was wondering if LGA saw a capacity increase as well?

checkmark  They believe they have received a gate in Terminal C. Not sure which gate though.

They did increase JFK with one more daily flight. LGA hasn't seen any capacity increases yet.

Are you sure? I thought CO had taken out the JFK flight(s) all together? They will now operate 3 737s per day.

CO's response has been very modest....as pointed out, CO will now fly IAH-JFK four times per day starting in September, and thats it. (With smaller 737s, mainly 735s on this route.) CO already has a frequent schedule out of IAH into LGA and, of course, EWR, so I dont expect any further action. I think that part of the reason that CO is not making a very big deal out of this is that JetBlue will be using Hobby and not IAH....in other words, JetBlue is not opening up a station at CO's hub airport in Houston. (CO gave up on Hobby a long time ago.) CO at IAH and WN at HOU have co-existed in Houston for years without any real battles to speak of......so the addition of a few JetBlue flights from HOU to JFK (and maybe BOS in the future) is not a huge issue. Atleast thats my take on the situation.

I am expecting more of a reaction from ATA/Southwest......Southwest rules at HOU and partner ATA recently launched HOU-LGA service and, per some reports, ATA has done surprisingly well with this route. I think that the ATA vs JetBlue competition on the Hobby-New York City route will be the battle to watch.

And CO has a front cabin and a FF program (I'm not sure what Jet Blue calls theirs...but it's dismal in comparison)! Plus they go into La Guardia---a lot easier for those of us doing biz in the city.

It's great that Jet Blue is here....makes it cheaper and more competitive for Houstonians ---I wish them success---and at least a couple more daily flights!

I don't think you could pay me to fly ATA.

I've actually had a great experience on ATA, though admittedly, the only time I've flown them was when someone else booked me on there. If they still have a business class, they might actually be a viable option for business travel between LGA-HOU. I wish AA would bring back that flight, but I know it's a lost cause.

Actually, they'll be at the end of "C" and will move later to the east end of "A" when it's time to demolish "C". The east end of "A" is where the "other" airlines are scheduled to go.
The remodeling project at HOU still has about three years to go and they are actually about a month ahead of schedule.

Thanks for the info--I've been wondering whats going on. They've also begun extending the east end of the central concourse to add what looks to be maybe 10 more gates at most.

I hope so as well!!!

I want to see B6 run PIT-HOU with 2 daily E90s!! On another note, CO has upgraded one of the PIT-IAH flights from a B735 to a B738, so this is making me think the demand for the route has gone up a tiny bit!

I wish B6 the best in all of its new wonderful cities:

That's great news! I suppose all the gates in the Central Concourse will be up. WN still flies out of Terminal A with flights to AUS, CRP, SAT, and HRL. I haven't been in Terminal C since Southwest stopped its DAL flights there when the Central Concourse opened up.

I definitely want JetBlue to expand at HOU. However, JetBlue stays away from WN like they are the black plague so it will be interesting to see what B6 does for future expansion at Hobby...

Yeah, I bet WN would begin the service the day before B6 if they announced it, being that WN is in PIT as well!!!

Oh well I wish them both the best!
