I was just looking at one of B6's old press releases and it had a list of possible destinations and to my count, of the originals, 21 have yet to get service. They are:

Atlanta
Canton/Akron
Charleston, SC
Charleston, WV
Chicago
Cincinnati
Clevenland
Columbia, SC
Dallas/Ft. Worth
Dayton
Flint
Grand Rapids, MI
Greensboro
Greenville/Spartenburg
Indianapolis
Louisville
Memphis
Milwaukee
Minneapolis/St. Paul
Norfolk
Savannah

Granted, things do change and so forth (like them saying they won't go because of other carriers with a huge presence) but what is everyones opinion on which of these cities listed will be the ones to get service. Do you think with them announcing Columbus, they will begin focusing on The Mid-West

Any thoughts are appreciated.
Did a search and couldn't find anything quite related to what I am looking for.

This is going to be a huge thread, as people are going to be all over this but, heck i can see many of these cities getting service in the next few years... those E190 willl be good for B6

I see that Houston is not on your list. I seem to recall seeing Houston on their original route map in an issue of Airliners or Airways magazine (I forget which), just as the carrier was getting ready to launch.

Its not because they are getting service

My bad, I suppose I should read a little more carefully next time.

JetBlue once served Atlanta.

I think all of those cities will see service within the next few years...except ATL of course. Most if not all should be able to support both JFK and BOS service.

I honestly think that majority of E190s will be flying to these cities. MSP may see A320 service, however, as well as DFW/DAL (hint: HOU is all-A320 service).

ATL was not served from JFK, as was likely originally intended.

MY understanding of the list of "original cities" is that it is a proposal, of example of cities that could be served or that were underserved/overpriced at that time.

Markets change, competition changes, and I suspect fulfilling the original city list is low on JetBlue's list of priorities. Some of these cities do hold some value for future service, no doubt, but I would imagine that B6 picks its cities carefully -as does any airline -based on current economics and passenger traffic .

Exactly! However, I do think that JetBlue will be announcing most of these cities over the next two years. I am also kind of surprised that DTW isn't on that list, either.

DTW is NW territory. Not to mention DTW has NW, NK, WN, FL. All those carriers usually keep NW in check as far as prices go. I would suspect FNT, LAN, or GRR to get service before DTW would.

Quite a few of those destinations on their originally-planned route map were DH cities. CHS, SAV, GSP, CRW, etc.. It would be interesting if some of these cities were to pop up as service out of IAD. It know it won't happen anytime soon, since that would probably require IAD to become a base (and we all know that's not in the works at the moment). But never say never  wink .
