Air Deccan had plans to start an airline in Sri Lanka, Deccan Lanka. What has happened to that plan. I don't hear Capt. Gopinath talk about it these day. Has he given up upon this idea?

An airplane might disappoint any pilot but it'll never surprise a good one.

Maybe he's optimistic that IT will manage to get the "waiting period" reduced from 5 years to 3 years!

Anyway - has DN ordered any wide bodies (to suit international flights)? Or are they planning to use their 320s to South East Asia?

With the mad expansion that DN is going through in India - Deccan Lanka can't be on the radar just yet. I guess once things stabilise in India the Lanka plan will start. Plus there is that little problem of Sri Lanka quietly falling into a state of civil war which might impact intra-Lanka or Sri Lanka-Southern India flights.
