hello. I just got back from the airport, dropped my mom off for her trip to MCO. As i was driving away to exit the airport, i saw an Olypic A340 parked at the international terminal! I wonder if this is one of the evacuation flights from Cyprus? But it was cool...never seen an A340 at BWI ever before. On a side note, Mexicana had an A320 parked next to it. Initially this was an A318 service, maybe loads are good enough to upgrade aircraft.

I think they pulled the aircraft from the LHR route. The loads looked a little light during the week.

An OA A340 has left ATH for LCA this morning ( July 25th ).
Seems very likely that it will pick up passengers from LCA for flight to USA and more than likely it will be BWI. Should know in the next few hours after it departs LCA.
For you in BWI area, check it out late on the 25th.

Quoting Olympic707 (Reply 20): Olympic A340 did fly evacuees to BWI. I talked to a BWI employee (also a fellow spotter) that confirmed it.
I did not get the registration on the A340.
I love to see OA make BWI a destination.
Yanni
Yanni, yes one OA A340 did go to BWI, however so far, 2 otherOA flights have gone to PHL this week.
I belive there will be atleast one more of these flights from LCA and will either go to PHL or BWI in next day or so..
On another note, with OA's current weak position, cannot see them flying to BWI on regular basis.. Seems all they have been doing over past few years is cutting destinations and not adding anything new. Your bext hope to see a Greek plane in BWI maybe Aegean in around 5 - 10 years time ???

Yes, you are correct. They are cutting back. OA is leaving the North American route alone. I think Aegean will expand the Trans Atlantic in 5 years or less.
