Hi
This is just a question, so I have no background information or source, I'd just like an answer.
I'd like to know how VS plan to expand on thier network out of LHR. With 11 A346 still on order, and of course the A380, will they start to move other a/c (744, A343) out of LHR to LGW/MAN/GLA etc, or simply retire them (although I don't remember them announcing the retirement of the 747's, but know of a few A343's leaving)
As everyone knows, starting new routes from LHR is not easy, especially if you won't good times. So can someone please explain their plan to me?
Thanks.
By the way, recently I have noticed a few stupid threads coming up, like lets bash BA/Ryanair/whatever. I do not wish for this to become one of these. I also said in a thread a little while ago about Emirates should keep thier hands of EI. This was a stupid comment, and apologise to anybody who may have lost respect for me. I would hate to lose respect.

Lazyshaun, your comment was not stupid, it was simply a personal opinion - which last time I checked, your entitled to.
Some people here, do take things waaaay too personal.
- VS additional routes may not necessarily require them to retire aircraft, I'd guess the first step for VS would be to see what slots they can get and estimate the load capacity they would receive, which at LHR I would guess would be good at most times of the day.
Just my two cents

Aviation has a 100% record, we've never left one up there......

Thank you, I feel better now

Even at nine or ten at night, to somewhere like the USA or the middle east or East asia?
I don't think some of those times would be that profitable, and with the only a/c choice a 744, A343 or A346, I don't think even VS could be that flexible.
Their strateggy seems to be: compete on routes already operated by BA/EK/CX or anyone, which is difficult when these airlines have the best times already.
Maybe they should try routes not operated, and then good timings would not be that neccessary, but then again, most business routes from LHR are covered, and the ones that are not operated would normally come under pleasure, which is LGW market.
Do you see what I mean? I can't really see where they will go from here...?

I can agree with that - I flew EK to Dubai in May (DEP: 10pm-ish) and of the 4 EK flights I was on in the space of 2 weeks, the LHR flight was 'black' with passengers. The other flights were empty.
In relation to the 11 A346's on order, are all those Aircraft going to be based at LHR, I would assume the A380's would be..

Silly question but when British moves to Terminal 5 what happens to Terminal 4? Does it get torn down? Could that be an ideal terminal for Virgin? Maybe an interior upgrade to match the class of Virgin but there's a lot of gate space.
