There has been a Delta 767 parked by the DHL facilities on the west side of SFO for the past couple of weeks. The fuselage around the front door is green metal instead of painted white. Does anyone know details?
Thanks!

My guess is that it was an Airborne Express/DHL 767-200 recently acquired from Delta Airlines. A while back I read in an industry magazine that ABX was getting some ex-Delta 767-200, so I assume you saw one of them.

Yes, it sounds like one of the -200 they bought from us. The cargo door and handling system is being done by Bedeck in Israel I think. I'm suprised the plane is sitting in SFO. Usually after the cargo mod they come back to ATL where they get painted by DL into the DHL scheme.

Thanks, interesting. It's been there for a while, haven't been by since Sunday. But tail was still Delta colors.

Yes! I saw this on Monday while riding the Airtrain from the rental car center to the Delta terminal. I thought it was a 757 being painted back to DL colors, because I could've sworn the green part of it was in Song scheme. Interesting.

The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

That must be a sad sight for the DL guys doing the painting. Having to paint your metal on some birds that served you well for so many years in someone elses colors. Bummer

Tailwinds!!!

My question:

How on earth can you confused a 767-200, with a 767-400??  Confused

Not at all. These airplanes have served DL for 24+ years and are now going on to a new life with a First Class company. The same cannot be said for N301AA and her scrapped sisters and the UA ships still in storage.

This plane is built to withstand anything... except a bad pilot.
