I see in the Daily Mail today David Hasselhoff was refused boarding on a BA at LHR flight for being blind drunk, in the morning (he must have started early!!!)

Wonder where KITT was? He could have driven him home.......!!!!  Wink

I bet Devon wasn't best impressed!!

Best move ever made by BA. Now LH has to ban him and the world will be safe from bad songs, leather pants and a man stuck in a time warp. But this is actually kind of a sad story...

Recently claimed he had kicked alcohol. But his messy divorce sent him out of control.

David Hasselhoff: Too Drunk To Fly

Quote:
During his drunken stupor the star stumbled into a duty free shop and lifted up the manageress.

Another witness revealed: "The manager said, 'I don't think you're fit to fly, sir.' He told her. 'I think you are right.'"

Onlookers were even more horrified when a dark wet patch appeared around the actor's groin area.

BA staff decided Hasselhoff was unfit to travel and asked him to sleep it off and wait for another flight.

He was finally allowed to board a flight two hours later, but was taken there in a buggy - usually reserved for elderly passengers.

That is sad.

Wasn't he recently escorted out of Wimbledon for being drunk and disorderly, and trying to get into a Federer match without tickets?

"Come on, I'm The Hoff!"

I'm glad BA refused him. I think they should also do that when he is sober!!  Wink

So is he banned from flying on that specific BA flight? or is he banned from flying on ALL BA flights ??

Please explain to me what it means when an airline bans someone. Also, don't flame me for that.
Thanks

He was asked to not board a plane because he was intoxicated and not "fit to fly". He was asked to sleep it off and was reassigned to a later flight.

He is not BANNED. But was restricted from flying LHR-LAX due to his condition.

People give The Hoff a hard time. The guy is a legend. If he wants to get drunk and wet himself at a BA gate, then he should be free to do that. Don't Hassel the Hoff.

He was "Banned" from that particular flight, not from BA forever!!

I had no idea he was a full on alchoholic (nor Billy Joel up until recent times which I read today as well!!) You learn something new everyday!

The airline is quite right. I flew SOU-GLA a few weeks back and the fella behind me was drunk and being a nuisance and certainly not fit to travel so how he "slipped through the net" I don't know. Difficult to police I imagine.

They need to set a precendent, i.e even turn up to check in plastered and knowingly so automatic fine of 10 grand or something. Do it once with an "example" case it will soon put a stop to it.....

He was not "Banned". He was refused boarding due to his intoxicated state.

Banned has an entirely different and more ominous connotation of permanancy.

LH would not have refused him boarding because "Germany Loves David Hasselhoff"  Wink

Just as well that he is a stupid drunk rather than a nasty one.

A right hook from a guy his size/build would knock you into next week.

Just a pity that he can't keep off the drink.

I wonder who spreads this myth... I've heard it so often and I've been asked so many times how popular he is over here. And that's simply not true.
I speak for the German people now:

Yes, we do know who David Hasselhoff is, and he was a popular and famous actor/singer once.
Now he is just someone you still remember from his movies/shows/songs. Not more, not less... WE ARE NOT HASSELHOFF-CRAZY!

But. but... I saw in "Dodgeball" how the German team was worshiping the picture of Hasselhoof... They even had their fight song. "Hasselhoff! Hasselhoff!" And when they lost The Hoff himself came up and smashed the picture, saying they were not worthy. Great movie.

My entire world view is shattered...

BTW I found this on the Wikipedia entry:
On June 29, 2006, Hasselhoff suffered a freak injury when he hit his head on a chandelier while shaving.
I can only ask: "How?"
