Delta To End MCO-OKC/TUL/MCI

Delta Connection is discontinuing RJ service in a handful of Orlando markets as the peak Orlando travel period begins to wind down.

Orlando-Kansas City service ends 5 August 2006
Orlando-Oklahoma City service ends 8 September 2006
Orlando-Tulsa service ends 5 August 2006

Delta provided the only non-stop service on the Oklahoma routes, but competed with Midwest and Southwest to Kansas City.

Certainly not unexpected that they cut them, rather that MCI and TUL are dropped in August already.

Not a big surprise. High cost RJ's from MCO to leisure destinations all served by WN.

Could OKC-SFB now be an oppurtunity for Allegiant?

Doubt that it matters to Allegiant whether DL pulled this route or not.

It would be less competition for them and now could be a good time for them to launch the route if they are considering it as they would get good PR for being the airline that maintains services to the Orlando area

I would have thought that with the restructuring and the focus on discontinuing routes that lose money, they would pull alot of the FL RJ routes all together.

As one who is frequently on the MCO-TLH and MCO-FLL flights I (selfishly) hope they don't. The loads seem to be pretty good when ever I am on them.
Of course I have no idea if in fact they are profitable for them or not.

Are these flat out being cancelled. Or are they being suspended as the busy season ends and will reappear next year?

Surprised that ICT isn't on that list (if it's still going, that is...)

I never said WN served TUL or MCI non-stop, all I said was they were served by WN.

The intra-Florida routes do well, especially MIA/FLL-TLH.

The ICT flights were seasonal. I doubt they will return after this summer.

Wasn't it dumb to have these flights in the first place?
