This may not be the biggest news of the day for you guys but I have to celebrate the fact that my little home airport, Deauville St Gatien (DOL), in Normandy, France, will get its first regular (ie non charter) flight in a long time, thanks to Ryanair!
FR will serve DOL from STN 3 times a week starting next october. I am hoping that the frequencies will go up once the spring comes, since Deauville is a very touristy town and more ppl will want to fly there.
The opening of this route will double the airport's traffic if everything goes as FR has planned it. It comes a few months after the airport was selected as the future international airport of Normandy (instead of competing airports URO (Rouen-Boos), CFR (Caen-Carpiquet) and LEH (Le Havre-Octeville)).
Here are a few links if you are interested (sorry, all of them are in French)

I suppose it's good news for a little airport, but I wouldn't be too pleased, I'd be quite happy if FR never ever touched my local airport [CWL] ever again!
Thomson Airways - The UKs premier charter airline // now flown : BY -AA -AJ -AE -AT; OO -AX -AU -RA -BG; BRIG; OBYD

Well... the airport authorities have been trying to get AF to fly out of DOL for quite some time, but it hasn't been succesful, so I guess it was logical to knock on FR's door. FR has really helped develop some French airports that were not served by AF. Beauvais (BVA) or Carcassonne (CCF) are good examples. Let's hope the same can happen with DOL.
I'd rather have FR serve my airport than no airline

That would be nice I just want STN to go daily next summer for starters... then I would assume they will treat it like Dinard in Brittany, which is another famous seaside resort, and send more flights from the UK (they are flight to Dinard from both London Stansted and East Midlands airports).
