I was wondering how much does it cost an ailine to paint one plane?

lets say

A320/B737/MD8X size?
A330/B777 Size
B747/A340 size
DC-10/MD11/L1011 size

airlines avaing between 150 up to 800 planes in a fleet must spent a fortune on new livery...

are we talking 5000$ or 25000$ per planes

Thank you

Not necessarily. The aircraft will have to be repainted at some point, anyway. Although there is a cost involved in changing the livery, it's not as though they're stripping each plane down and repainting them all at the same time. They simply wait until the individual aircraft is due for a repaint, and change it then.

We are talking more like $40-$60,000 for a narrow body....around $80-$100,000 for a widebody

Painting an L1011 now.
Cost:

$136,000, strip and paint.
Three colors...Boeing gray on the lower fuselage, white and blue on the upper fuselage/tail.

Scuff and paint is cheaper, of course.

Figure, $72,000/spray...or using a pressure roller, $63,000, which looks just OK from 50 feet away Wink
