Hi,
I am looking at buying a couple of F/class tickets MCO-EWR on CO in Aug. The seat map shows just 4 rows of First seats. Does this mean that I would get to fly on one of the International Config B752's?.
I believe the domestic aircraft have an extra two rows but maybe they just don't show the extra two in case of A/C subs etc.
As a side note, does anyone know which other (domestic) routes CO frequently fly with their International B752's? I assume that these were the ones CO fitted with wnglets first to take advantage of the additional payload/range.

All of CO's 41 757-200s are getting Winglets and the International BusinessFirst cabins, as of now I think I've read that perhaps half or a little mroe than half have been converted and the rest should be done by the end of the year.
CO's BusinessFirst 757s have 16 B/F seats, their domestic 757s have 24 First Class Seats.

Yes it does.....(provided that there is not a last minute swap).....as almost all of the CO 752s now have BF seating, you are almost certain to have BF seating on the airplane.
BF equipped 757s are not assigned to any specific routes......they show up all over the system. For years, EWR-Florida routes have seen mostly BF equipped 757s since many airplanes route as follows:

I thought all the B752's had been reconfigured for the 16 Biz First seats by now, and most if not all the B753's were in the 24 seat First Class config!

If my thinking is correct then all the B752's are BF with 16 seats, and if that is the case they fly from the EWR and IAH to a number of domestic spots, ever changing the aircraft for the demand during the year. IAH-LAX almost always as a few B752's during the day, IAH-SFO most of the year has around a 6pm departure, IAH-TPA from time to time, IAH-AUS, IAH-SAT, IAH-MSY, IAH-MCO, IAH-FLL, EWR-RSW, EWR-TPA all enjoy the -200's from time to time, or a -300 but the -300 won't get you the BF seats.....keep in mind the domestic service in the BF configuration is certainly not the BF service you find on CO international trips. Enjoy

Not correct - at least not yet. I was on a 24F 752 just a few days ago.

CO's 757-300s also have the 24 First Class seats.
Correct. (As of July 1, 2006) 25 of our 41 have winglets. 2 of the 41 still have the 24/156 configuration (ships 120 and 127). 11 of the 41 are still 16/156 and the rest are 16/159.

There is only one row extra (three seats). Row 7 ABC was added as the unit housing the former video system for B/F (BusinessFirst) at 2L was taken out. Row 7 ABC has the legroom at 2L (7A should ask for blankets as this seat tends to get cooler at the feet from the exit door).

There are a myriad of routes our 752s fly on domestically, EWR-CLE/IAH/West Coast/LAS/DEN/Florida; IAH-LAS/West Coast/CLE/EWR/MSY/AUS/DEN/SAT/Florida; CLE-LAS; SEA-ANC; LAX-OGG to mention but a few.
All of our 752s are capable of international flights (winglets farther ones than others).

Thanks for all the help.
I did not realise that all B752's were geting the Business first treatment.
That certainly seems to be one of the nicest ways to fly domestic these daye (except perhaps the odd widebody route).

If the aircraft has 16 BF seats + 7ABC, its an AVOD airplane, but I dont know if the seat maps on continental.com indicate this distinction yet.

I think that its actually 24/159.......does anyone know when the last two 757s will get new BF interiors?

Not as of yet. CO is probably waiting till all 752s have the 16/159 configuration before updating the website.

Do CO's newly configured B/F 757s have new entertainment systems in B/F or is that something in the works down the road, I remember reading something about new entertainment options for B/F.
If so are they considering bringing it to the Y cabin?

Rumor has it that AVOD IFE will be extended to the Y cabin in the near-term future.

The 757s have AVOD in businessFIrst (a system called e/FX) and Y/C should be seeing starting sometime next year.

It will be great once this is complete, as CO will have a consistent (and outstanding) product in both classes across its whole international fleet. In fact, the 757s' AVOD will even give them a slight edge over the 767s and 777s. Hopefully this will finally put an end to the "I can't imagine crossing the Atlantic in a 757!" whining...

I really cannot imagine a.net without the infamous 757 accross the Atlantic discussion........but, now that AA, DL, NW, and US are all doing/going to do the 757 trick, the 757 is now socially acceptable on trans-atlantic flights.
All of those DL, AA, NW and US fans that could not imagine crossing the Atlantic in a 757 have had a change of heart and suddenly think its a great idea.

A related question: does this mean that the F in 752's on international routes are now considered BF regardless of the destination? I'm specifically thinking about all the 752 flights to south america. When paying the BF upgrade fee this becomes important, as does the lack of EUA's.

No. Example would be 524 CLE-EWR. It is listed as domestic First Class in availibility.

The rules regarding domestic upgrades (that is, within the lower 48, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, northern South America, the mid-Pacific except HNL/NRT, Lima, and Copa-operated flights) have not changed.
What has changed is the configuration of the 757-200s utilized on these routes. Instead of 24 domestic F seats, they have been converted to 16 J seats (BusinessFirst). Service, fares, staffing, etc., is all the same.
Two 757-200s remain in the domestic configuration. I caught one TPA-EWR in early July. The downside is that particular layout was almost a guaranteed upgrade for any Elite outside of the usual 'black holes' of LAX, LAS, SFO, IAH, and EWR. Obviously the upside is a greatly improved experience once upgraded.
The odds of catching a domestic ship on your next CO 757-200 flight are just about 1 in 20. You can rest assured you will be getting one with the International configuration.
(sorry to reiterate points from above, but the same questions keep coming up over and over)

So if the aircraft used to have the 24 and now it has the 16, and is on an INTERNATIONAL leg, does it get reclassified now to BF so that EUA's are not available and the upgrade fees apply? Examples: EWR-LIM, IAH-SJO
