I am a US citizen visiting Indian on business. I have never flown on Aloha (I flew Hawaiian when I was there last) and have never flown a 737 next generation with winglets.
However, I just flew Jet Airways from Chennai (Madras) to New Delhi on a Boeing 737-700 with winglets. Although it was painted in Jet Airways's livery, I was pleasantly surprised to note the Aloha Airlines symbol on the first class seatbacks and that all of the seats were in grey leather (I assume an aloha touch).
Jet Airways' magazine notes one of their 13 737-700 has a slightly wider wingspan. I assume that is the wingletted Aloha plane.
Is Jet Airways leasing this aircraft or was it sold outright?

I very much enjoyed Jet Airways. The level of service was higher than most US and European carriers, full meal, drinks, etc. Great food.
The Indians feel like the quality have gone down, but compared to the US, it is very luxurious.

During AQ's bankruptcy, they returned 2 or 3 737-700s to the lessors. It seems that the next operators were not able to replace the seats.
It seems common that leased aircraft tend to keep the same seats as the previous operator. For example, HA's ex-LTU aircraft leased from ILFC still have the LTU seats and also have the inflight map program, which cycles between English and German.

Unfortunately they returned 5 or 6....went from 13 or 14 to 8.

9W has three wingletted 737-800's which are configured in ATA's 175 seat all economy config and the lone wingletted 737-700 which is ex-Aloha. The problem for 9W was that they needed planes so desperately to operate routes in a rapidly exapnding Indian market, they had no time to configure the planes in their usual set up which would have meant that the planes would have spent two weeks out of commission. The extra winspan is because of the winglets. Once 9W starts getting its new bunch of factory fresh 737-800's these planes might be taken out of service and returned to the leasing companies.

Yes, there is a nice, wide viewing gallery, accessible through the departure area....I was flying domestic on IC about 3-4 years ago and found myself with some time on hand at MAA....during daytime it's mostly 737's and 320's of IC, 9W, etc., that you can see....international traffic at night....

Wow... is this an outside area? When I last flew from MAA in 2004 I asked where I can "watch the planes" and they only directed me upstairs to a cafe (a really nice one actually!) that overlooked the runway through windows.
