This is good for Alaska. Who would have ever thought that an airline named Alaska Airlines would be the leader in flights to the Mexican beach markets on the west coast? Alaska is incredibly strong on the west coast of North America.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Manzanillo, Mazatlan and Ixtapa, I understand, but I didn't even know they flew to Loreto.

When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

Loreto service began last year. I was on their flight from LAX to Loreto in June. AS has picked up the passengers from AereoCalifornia that was shut down in April by the Mexican government. While, AereoCalifornia has begun flying again, there are no US stations as of yet.
I recall years ago when Alaska first began flying from SFO to Palm Springs. Their advertising was about flying the sun. From then on they have moved south. They are a dominant carrier on the West Coast Mexico routes. I have flown them to Cabo also. Flights are always packed.
Alaska is a great example of a colorful West Coast carrier. So many of the others have been merged into larger carriers.

UA recently dropped its SJO tag on its LAX-GUA flight, while AA has struggled the last two years to make its LAX-SJO service work which is coming back seasonally again between December and April.
SJO is mainly a tourist route from LA with weaker ethnic traffic demand. I'm not sure AS has the feed to make it work where neither AA nor UA seem to have achieved success. Sending a plane on a 5 hour journey South is not a cheap exercise, and one maybe not be worth taking for AS.

Why has AS focused their Mexican services out of LAX and SFO but left
their home base SEA without any non-stop service to Mexico apart from
the recently announced SEA-CUN sevice? Is it because LAX and SFO are
that lucrative or is it because of no FIS facilities on the North Satellite or
C and D gates that AS uses out of SEA?

The non-stop service from SEA is seasonal.
Normally there are nonstops from SEA to MZT/PVR/SJD during the winter
schedule.

or LAX-SJO?
They're kind of running out of Mexican resort destinations from LAX - would be nice to see some Central America and/or Caribbean.
both have been talked about before actually.
not only that but they're also adding flights to Cancun from SEA. also they will ad flights to SJD and PVR from PDX. all of these are nonstop but seasonal winter service only

I wish MCO would get 3 daily flts. We offer great connections on AA/ AE. Congrats to AS. Will these be served by 738's?

I just don't see why AS or QX won't have more non-stop flights from SEA-Mexico. There is a huge Mexican population in Washington State especially Eastern Washington. Robert NWDC10

Compare the size of the San Francisco and particularly Los Angeles market sizes versus Seattle.
AS based solely on SEA demand would be unable to sustain many Mexico routes, while SFO and LAX flights are sustained nicely with both a significantly larger O&D market, while also receiving natural feed coming down the coast from places such as SEA and PDX.

And its unlikely they come from any of the beach destinations AS serves.
Seriously if you take a close look at the Mexican populous in the Western US many come from central Mexican states such Durango, Zacatecas, Michoacan, Jalisco, not particularly beach towns nor tourist destinations.
Mexico is a very large and diverse country with striking cultural differences from one region to another. Lumping Mexicans together is akin to calling all US citizens and regions homogeneous.
