Sorry if this is the wrong forum guys, but I was wondering if you could help me out.
How come on the 744 below, there is a large gap between door's 1 & 2 with no windows?

Galley?

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

Lawrence,

AirKas1 is right. KLM decided to put galley there. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that even thier B747-200's had their galley located in similar location.

Also I believe that this is still part of Business Class. Right?  confused

Cheers,
Andrej

The galley is there, but only on the right side, on the other site there isn't a galley but just window's and seats ... and no it isn't a part of the business class, since thats on the upperdeck.

The galley is used in part for Business Class and in part for Economy Class. Yes, the upperdeck is C Class but also the front of the a/c which has 18 seats.

To the left of the galley is the first economy section, which starts at row 09 and is used to preseat KLM's elite frequent flyers. The section is configured in a 3-2 layout and features some of the quietest Y-seats in the plane. Until a couple of years ago that section was used for World Business Class as well, but KLM has since reduced its C-class offerings to include only one main deck section apart from the upperdeck.

Here's a pic. It's an excellent rest area for the cabin crew, but I regard this galley as way to big. It's situated in the area of the aircraft where you'd usually put the high revenue seats. ie business class or premium economy seats (which KLM do not have).

The little cabin on the other side between door 1 and 2 is an excellent place to travel though.

It is indeed a strange place for a galley, even though the upside is that great Y cabin in the front. I believe the only other company that has/had such 747s is TG.

While this galley lay out is not the most common, there are more airlines than just KLM and TG which opted for this configuration. Garuda's 3 B744s are configured like this as were Sabena's B743s.

Can someone tell me where the other options for a galley other than KLM/TG's side version?

I know that MH has a galley in 2/3rd's of the way down the aircraft (744), is the mainly used config with airlines?

Why would you put a galley in that position and "get rid of" a lot of window seats?

FYI, Pan Am's 747SP had a similar configuration.

The -300's and -200SUD's had the same config as this one.
