CX888 HKG-YVR-JFK Just Cancelled?

According www.yvr.ca it says that the flight is cancelled. The first time I have ever seen this happened. Did something happen to one of CX 744? This route carries a lot of ppl. The ones flying HKG-YVR, Ones that fly HKG-JFK or YVR-JFK, ones that fly JFK-YVR or JFK-HKG, or YVR-HKG.

Does anyone know whats going on?

BTW, they have a horrible time trying to be on-time on this one lately.

Hong Kong is currently being hit by a tropical cyclone. Operations are a mess now. Flights have had to divert and many flights are cancelled. The whole city is not up to speed.

Here are the diversions and irregular operations because of the Typhoon:
QF030 Diverted to SIN
QF029 Diverted to BKK
CX873 from SFO is in TPE.
CX288 from FRA is in TPE.
CX889 from YVR went to XMN. Now in HKG
CX252 from LHR is in TPE.
CX260 from CDG went to XMN. Now in HKG
CX270 from AMS is in TPE.
CX748 from JNB is in CAN.
AF184 from CDG is in CAN.
CI601 from TPE is in KHH.
KA111 from DAC diverted.
AE821 from TPE tried twice and diverted back to KHH.
KA439 went around.
KA489 diverted back to TPE.
MU5027 diverted back to WNZ
CZ311 diverted without trying.
CX085 gone around twice. Diverting to TPE.
UA862 went around..holding.
SQ001, aborted approach, holding.

UL422, did not try....was diverting to Manila but could not contact ATC there, so came back to HKG frequency and said they will divert to BKK instead!!.....but then HKG told them to try again. They came back with nojoy, and then HKG ATC passed them a message from Manila..so they diverted there.
BA27, start to divert to manila and was then told by HKG ATC that Manila refuses them and expect to divert to RPLC. He asked what that was and was told by Philippine Airlines it was Clark airport....formerly clark air force base and now clark International Airport. He then spoke to company and was told that they had permission for MNL...then off to MNL ATC he went...so not sure where he is now!
VI249 went around. Now landed
QR812 went around. Diverted to CAN and told to expect to park on the taxiway.
Az9060 went around. After being told their only alternate, Guangzhou is full, ATC said "Are you declaring an emergency?". They replied "If we have to, then yes". Now they are diverting to Guangzhou.
EK384 went around. Diverted to BKK
5X004 diverted to CRK
LH8408 went around. Now landed.
LH8460 went around for the 3rd time this evening!!! ... not sure how many he did this morning!!! Diverting now.

thanks for all those info.. wow.. yeh i know winds are at liek 30knots right now really intense. . crosswinds are crazy you cnat even walk staright here

but roseflyer.. where in the world did you get those information?? im relaly cuirous thanks a lot

(i have a lot of relative facing problems because of this typhoon sigh**)

On the other hand, I saw a few flights taking off at 33 knots winds and it looked pretty intense. But oh well.......

Well this is what the BA website says about the BA27...

I've got no idea where it is!!!

The BA25 has gone to Shanghai and i think is now on its way to HKG..but who knows!

the majority of yesterday's long-haul flights didn't manage to leave HKG, which consequently means none of those flights will be coming back tomorrow. over 30 aircrafts are diverted to airports around HKG. it'll take at least a couple of days to get back to normal.

Oh thats why when i was in Toronto for 2 days, flight AC 15,16 did not show up on Wednesday and on Thursday only one of them came in at about 10h30am! and on thursday night Cathay Pacific was cancelled...Now i see why!
