For those insiders in Air France, would you be able to tell me which 744 (reg.) is going to operate AF84 CDG-SFO on Sunday August 06?
A dear friend of mine is taking it back as AF83, SFO-CDG. I wanted to find out if the 744 will have PTVs throughout economy? Or just on the upper deck? How do the loads look like, is there a chance he can get a seat on the upper deck? Any information is most appreciated.
Thank you.

WindowSeat,
I was on this flight 3 weeks ago.
CDG-SFO was operated by F-GITH one of the 3 that has PTV in all Y.
SFO-CDG was operated by F-GEXA, an old 747 from ex-UTA, which had the new cabin "NEV". The upper deck had PTV (although a less advanced system) because it was previously a J/C class cabin.
Only the earlier combis (IIRC) are the only ones with no PTV everywhere in Y (F-GISA/B)

I'm sure this flight has left Paris a long time ago. It is due to arrive in San Francisco in less than three hours. Can anyone tell me which aircraft is flying this route today? Any information on the loads on the flight back to Paris?
Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

According to my checking just now, todays flight AF 84 was F-GISE.
I also looked at a post from FlySSC about the AF 747s and the above plane is as follows: "new seats config 40J-393Y (including 57Y at the upper deck with PTV). No PTV in Y on the main deck. old IFE system BE20"

That's good to know. Does F-GISE have PTVs in all classes? including economy on the lower deck? I'm just trying to find the best seat for my friend.
Also, can you tell me how the loads look like??
Thank you so much for your help.
edit: DernierVirage, you beat me to my question. Thank you. Any idea on loads, will it be possible to get a seat on the upper deck?

Sorrry, I don't have any "inside knowledge" at AF so I cannot help you about loads. Anyway, best wishes with your search.
