What major routes do the major airlines plan to initiate in 2001? We've already heard US PHL-AMS, CO EWR-HKG, UA ORD-Shanghai, but are there any others that you've heard from your airline that they plan to start?

I do believe that UA will start IAD-CPH and rumors persist of UA starting IAD-TGL. Also some possible new routes from the US to LHR, depending on the progress or lack of in the US/UK open skies talks.

One that I don't believe was mentioned on this site but has already started (9/1/00) is DTW-CHS (Charleston, SC) on Northwest/Mesaba, with a combination of DC-9-30s and RJ-85s.

Bonjour AF,
What are AF using to RUH?? I was boarding my 777 to LHR, and noticed an AF tail, at the gate next to ours. Such was the sandstorm activity, that I couldn't id. the a/c. Was it an Airbus?? You were two hours late!!
Oh la la c'est trop deux heures, c'est trop!

SR,
AR's destinations do not include ZRH, however the pull-down destinations menu does feature Zurich. It's probably a code-share with SR's MD-11, which stops in Sao Paulo en-route.
Airliner World did state however, that ZRH was on AR's list of target destinations.

Sawubona Capt.Picard !
I am in Johannesburg at the moment and did read the fact that your father was on the BA flight to CPT and connecting to LAD.
You do know that we have a nonstop CDG-LAD flight codeshared with TAAG on our 777-200IGW ! You should tell your dad to use it ! Does he fly Business Class or First ?
About our RUH flight, it is the A310 that operate to all middle-east destinations.
I do agree that 2 hours is a long delay but we are having a lot of problems with our A310's. That's why it is time for them to retire and be replaced by the A330-200 from next year. The last A310 and B767 will be out of the fleet by 2003 and will all be replaced by the A330-200 featuring the l'Espace Premiere, l'Espace Affaires and Tempo products.

Great to hear you AF, I'm down in CPT in on the 8thDec.
Whilst at JNB, we stayed with friends, but there's a great shopping centre at Sandton (it's also a hotel); go there, it's quite nice. There's also Gold Reef City, take the mine shaft, that's quite a nice place for the afternoon.
My father was on FIRST, because he was doing Company business. No worry's AF, we are flying AF to LAD a few days before the 8thDec!! We'll be flying from BHX, and change at CDG.
Some of my father's collegues take this flight, others fly with TAP A340. There are others who will only fly with BA via CPT (They fly SA from LAD)
I'm really looking forward to it, although I have flown AF744 between SCL-EZE 2 years ago.

Thank you for your information about JNB but I should tell you that I have a house here with my partner and It has been 3 years that I have been flying between CDG and JNB.
I took on the route airlines like AF (of course), SA, BA, VS and SN.
I know the city rather well and our house is 7 minutes by car from Sandton-City, we stay in Morningside.
No offence,

Hey Everyone,
I know that VARIG Brasil was thinking of purchasing some 777 I think back in '97/'98 but then fell on some hard financial times. Does anybody here know if VARIG is planning on purchasing this aircraft? Maybe leasing it, although I doubt anyone would want to lease their favourite airplane. Please respond.
