I was wondering if UK transit visa requirements are applicable to Air India passengers from YYZ to DEL via BHX. It is the same plane but stops at BHX and I'm not sure if Pax have to get off for a/c cleaning.
I am aware that a Canadian citizen or PR doesn't need it. My question is regarding visitors(Indian Passport holders).
Thanks in advance for your replies and suggestions.

Indian citizens who hold valid visas for Canada (other than those holding old-design PR papers issued prior to 2002) do not require DATVs to transit though the UK.

There are other obscure groups as well who require additional immigration paperwork (eg. refugees, deportees, non-national travel documents, etc...) but for a vast majority of Indian citizens in transit between India and Canada, the DATV exemption applies.

Thanks Sean for your reply.

Let me be more specific. For vistors(Indian) to Canada. A transit visa is not required if the person(with a visit visa) returns through UK within six months from landing in Canada.
But if the person extends his visitor visa legally and is returning after six months he would need a transit visa, I know it is the case eg. if he's taking AC to LHR and then QR/EK/GF etc. to India from LHR.
My question is specifically to Air India(YYZ-BHX-ATQ-DEL) since it is the same aircraft, do the same transit requirements apply?
Thanks again.

This may or may not be relevant, but I had a similar situation returning to Canada a few years ago. We had to leave the plane while it was refueled at BHX, and were kept in a secure transit area during this time.

No. As long as the visa is valid, the 6 month rule does not apply. The 6 month rule only applies in case of visas that have expired. The visa only grants permission to apply for entry - the entry is usually granted for 6 months beyond the date of entry - and thus theoretically up to 6 months minus one day beyond the expiry of the visa.
