Dear All,
I'm planning to fly with LH to LCA in Cyprus.
The flights are at terrible times, departure 21:05 arrival 01:40 and back 03:20 for a 06:10 arrival... It's been so long I didn't have flown with LH and so I have no idea what to expect, especially not while on the A300-600. It's a nice chance to fly it for more than a little hop intra Germany and get a little bit of "old school long haul" feeling, considering a flighttime of almost 4 hours.
Anyway what shall I expect about food? Is there ANY IFE? Airshow or something? What is free in eco? What you guys think about the old Airbus?

I'd imagine you will get a hot meal - I got one on a MUC-MLA and MLA-FRA flight, and they are only 2 hour flights if that. Drinks (including alcohol) were also complementary - and LH had a very nice beer on board when I flew them!
No trees were harmed by this message. However, several million electrons were terribly inconvenienced

The good thing with your arrival and departure times in LCA is that the airport will not be that busy. The terminals are old and small (new terminals are under construction).
You should have a very nice ride on the A300-600, if you can pick a right window seat to enjoy the night view of the Larnaca bay on landing.

What you cannot expect is IFE, since they are using the regular AB6s for these weekend runs. Try to get a window or an aisle seat, seating is mostly 2-4-2.

LH do have Saturday and Sunday flights that depart FRA in the morning and return in the evening making for much more decent travelling times. The flights you mention here operate -2-4--7 returning 1-3-5--. So if you are really averse to the flight times you could always fly on the weekend.

Warm food, free drinks, no IFE. I think the old airbus should be replaced. Soon.
As others mention the terminal is nothing to write home about. If you can avoid checking in your luggage for the FRA-LCA leg I would strongly suggest you do that. People have been known to wait for more than an hour until the workers get around to unloading incoming aircraft. On departure, the process should be reasonably smooth. Decent duty free shop if that's your kind of thing otherwise try to be there as little as possible.

Thanks for your reply. I think it's not that bad, actually it gives a little bit of long haul feeling.. Anyway I don't have the big choice, the ratge is 65€ all incl return, so I wont complain about flight times
You're from Cyprus, maybe you can help me. I would love to go to the northern Part and take the Ferry or better Fly to Turkey. Is there anything cheap you can suggest? Or any other airlines with cheap flights (are there any paphos-Lca flights?) to surrounding countries?

Going to the North from the Republic of Cyprus side, was made possible in 2003 when Turkey decided to let people from the Republic of Cyprus to visit the occupied part. However, entering and leaving the island from not internationally recognised airport and port of the north is illegal and may cause you problems with the Cypriot authorities.
The only recognised entry points to Cyprus are Pafos and Larnaca airports and the port of Limassol. This is why KTHY cannot fly directly to European airports and have to do a stop at Turkey first.

I am actually a bit surprised by this because 2 years ago I flew LH from LCA to FRA and it was operated by a A321. The return flight was operated by a A319. No IFE on any of the planes although they seemed quite new.

I'm pondering doing a mileage run LHR-FRA-LCA return in C. I'll probably use the better-timed weekend flights for my outbound leg but inbound will be on a weekday 03:20 departure.
I want to know whether the lounge will be available to help me get through travelling at this ungodly hour. I've looked on the LH website, which simply says that there is a contract 'Airport VIP Lounge'.

Anyone got info on opening times?
There are CY VIP lounges at both LCA and PFO but have never used them before so I 've got no idea about the services offered.
Brand new terminals with multiple VIP lounges are under construction at both LCA and PFO (they are built next to existing terminals) but will not be ready until 2008.
