Hi, dont know if anyone knows, but does the CY A330 fly into PFO? Only reason I ask is that I have just returned from Cyprus and stayed in the wonderful village of Pissouri, not far from Petrou tou romiou (Aphroditie's rock)
and was lucky enough to see loads of landing traffic, some stacked up too then they made a wide left turn round the coast and headed inland, but away from LCA, so I guess it was inbound traffic to PFO, I just didnt think CY sent the A330 in there

CY A330s do fly to/from Pafos.
weekly flights to LHR, AMS and MAN are operated from there.
Indeed on of the common approaches to runway 29 is by flying "downwind" to the South of the airport (towards Limassol) and then performing a left hand turn near "Petra tou Romiou" followed by another one which puts you on final approach.

That would explain that then! On a last note, I was not at all impressed by PFO airport. When we arrived,we only saw the baggage claim and the car hire point for Europecar, but flying home, we were stuck there for hours, all the check in system failed and they had to it manually. so the place was full to bursting with passengers, and in the departure "lounge", it was vile.Filthy dirty. The only good part was the outdoor terrace where you could watch the apron.

Agree!
PFO and LCA will be getting brand new terminals by mid 2008.
The construction has just begun and depending on the date of your travel you may have seen the construction site next to existing PFO departures terminal.
However, at the moment and for the next two years we will have to live with the existing infrastructure.
PFO and LCA were constructed as emergency airports when Nicosia airport was closed in 1974 due to the Turkish invasion. For many years the assumption was that Nicosia would open hence the temporary terminals at both PFO and LCA were not looked after properly.
The new terminals are constructed by Hermes Airports alliance and will be operated by them for 25 years.
