Let's hope the Board had an emergency meeting and made a decision NOT to go ahead and apply a NEW livery/scheme......

The saying "If it ain't broke then don't fix it" comes to mind. Hardly much wrong with NZ's livery at present, and it sure stands out at airports. So why change it? Having said that, there have already been changes to print-advertising and airport displays which forshadow the "revised" look. Funny how things have gone silent.

They are waiting to see if they need to put an NZ scheme on or just go straight to the QF scheme. (grin).

Seems strange how Air NZ has all this money to waste on new uniforms and livery and yet is trying to sell off its ground handlers and cleaners to the cheapest bidder. They say they are losing money in these areas. I think they are trying to save money in some areas so they can waste it in others.

Perhaps if they spent more on making the staff feel better about their jobs they would be better off.

I'd be feeling a lot better in the new uniform, but yes, get your point.

It's strange the way airlines think/assume by selling off its departments (catering, ground handling, cabin cleaning etc) to the competition helps save $$$ money???
Qantas has attempted to sell off its catering sector for the past 20+ years without success and with good reason, its catering sector is pulling in around $15-$20 million in profit each year!
Oooh well getting back to the original topic.....
I hope Air New Zealand management reconsider going ahead with this revised livery/scheme, the current ain't even broken!

New liveries do not cost much as planes generally are repainted on a set time schedule regardless of paint scheme.

Perhaps they will resort to a hybrid design like this one?

Just my 2 cents, but I liked the old scheme with the cheatline, and I REALLY like the current scheme. However, I'm just one worker-bee out there in a world of high paid designers, so what do I know anyway.

Firstly welcome to A.net.... people must be half asleep here today!
Good points you make there... you can add in all ground handling to that as well (NZ is reviewing that).
As pointed out by SFOtravelor, new liveries don't actually cost the airline much because they usually get done when a plane needs repainting anyway... however since NZ has just received 6 777 and several Q300's in the current livery it will be a waste if these aircraft get repainted within 3 years (you get a free paint when you purchase an aircraft). That said... there is much thought that it will still be a white paint scheme with just extra livery added on to the sides/tail... this can be added on quite quickly (or stuck on with decals) and it isn't that expensive to do.

Nothing at all. I like it. But it is slightly out with the new uniforms and other livery the airline uses (checkin, letterhead etc etc) and I'm sure the new one will be just as good if not slightly better  Smile

If that's the case why didn't the management/board reconsider the NEW uniforms so that it would go with the current scheme????
Just curious course it seems everyone on this forum have disagreed with the idea of a NEW scheme.....

Well considering the scheme is something like 10years, why look back and create uniforms that would relate to something from the 90s rather than the future?

Any new livery will be applied when the aircraft was due for its repaint anyway, thus costing nothing to change over to. Repaints are happening on average every D check, which ranges from 4-6 years across the various fleets.

I know you have all been waiting a while, but sit tight a little longer. The way things are panning out, it shouldn't be too much longer before you hear something, and I can SHOW you something.

Now will they allow ANOTHER 777 to be delivered in the current scheme?
