It was not a bad livery in my opinion. I agree with Devid L. I did not like the balck anti-glare panel under the windshield. However, relative to the liveries of other airlines, it is not one of my favorites.

Hi JWM AirTrans!
TWA livery is worldwide, even if we love it or not. I personally think old TWA livery the "Globe" one, but even the red /white was striking, in any buzzy airport if you look to the tails and see a red one with the 3 magic words T W A, you would know the guys were there! The new one, well its ok but it blends with other tails!

On FS98, you can see the aircraft from the outside (use the minus button to move further away, and arrow keys to change view). I have a CD-ROM of extra aircraft, and I take off in the TWA 747 with the livery you describe, and above scattered clouds in bright sunlight 15,000 ft over Chicago and Lake Ontario I do aerobatics (lots of barrel rolls) as I listen to loud playbacks of music I am working on. The TWA 747 is the best livery for this, it just seems to look right. And the black glareshield does set the red and white off in quite a striking way.
Best TWA livery ever is the new one. Love that all-black tail-cone! Very cool.
